MCA #8, Sunday brunchtime

Nathan had listened to radio last night.

Nathan was now at his dining room table enjoying brunch, coffee, and the Sunday Times.

He figured he may as well savor the quiet while it lasted.

[for family, MWAHAHAHAHAHA]

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Sam asked, glancing at Peter as they headed to the apartment. "I mean, I don't want to deprive you of the entertainment of watching Nathan, but still."

Peter shifted Maria so she was resting comfortably against his shoulder. "She's come all this way. She should see her Uncle Nathan."

"Brunch with Uncle Nathan is the best," Maria said, clinging happily to her daddy. "Unless you put salt in his coffee. Then he makes a weird face."

Peter was very happy to hug back. "He does. Plus it's always dangerous to get between Nathan and caffiene. Cuts down on the odds of ice cream later."

Peter had also listened to radio last night.

"Can we get ice cream later? Pleeeeease?" Maria asked.

"Let's have brunch first, and see how full you feel then," Sam said. "You need to be on your best behavior with Uncle Nathan too."

"You can be good enough for ice cream, right?" Peter said.

Maria nodded emphatically. "Super good, I promise!"

"You should probably go in first," Sam said to Peter. "I'll be right behind you."

"Suuuuuuure," Peter said. He went to knock on Nathan's door

Well, the quiet was nice while it lasted. Nathan put his coffee and paper down, then went to get the door. He took in the three of them, then focused on the only innocent member of the party.

"So there's the little radio star," he said to Maria.

"Did you hear me?" Maria asked excitedly. "I got to have a head thingie and read notes and everything!"

"You did very well," Nathan said. He went to take her from Peter since, yanno, Petrellis. Touching. "Maybe you'll be a reporter someday."

[weechesters]

"I can be a famous reporter," Maria said, giving her uncle a hug. The famous bit was the most important part. "You can be on my show and be famous too."

"Why thank you," Nathan said. He took a few steps back so Sam and Peter could come in. "Maybe you'll interview me when I run for office."

Then, to Sam, Nathan said, "So did you make an honest man out of my brother?"

Sam was still standing behind Peter, for all the good that did, and he couldn't bring himself to look at any of them as his face turned red. "I'm sure I did, wherever she's from," he said.
