festive?

a lot of my entries have been negative
for this i apologize
to the journal, to the reader, to myself

nice things do happen now and then
when bad things happen, i tend to go off on a rant

posting an entry can be such a chore somedays ... my laptop is mostly repaired but still not online so, i have to fire up the big clunky ugly machine that moves really slow and it is in my bedroom - did i mention that it is 80 degrees - anyway, it is pretty rare lately for me to check the damn internet. so i have 90+ emails and by the time i am done with them i'm either beat or i've had too much beer to say anything useful

anyway

tonight i am cooking a pork roast - just because i feel like it

a week and a half ago i cut the bottom branches off of my mother's christmas tree, tied them together with wire and string and hung my "branch" on the door of the utility closet. i also put some red wrapping paper on the door beneath my 'tree' to accentuate the greenery.
i took my best ornaments, which are my only ornaments and they are few (yes, the positive effect of streamlining and moving cross country and back again). I hung these heirlooms, mostly sentimental and many silly, on my little bit 'o tree. Then I placed other decorations around the living room, wrapped a few presents...very few but presents all the same.

see - this is a very good and positive thing for me as i'm usually bummed on xmas and haven't really had the spirit in years. so, i got a little silly, wrapped presents, lit candles - totally freaked out the cats. cats of course are part of the reason for my tree on the wall so they can't knock it over since they can't reach it and there is nothing close enough to jump from to even try.

so anyway
i've babbled in a bit of a circle here

i get all excited, have wrapped presents and had to go deliver them right away!!! i have already put my mom's presents under her tree and gave my friend kristi her gift on friday because she was depressed and her cat knocked her tree over so i went to her house to decorate, bake, and distribute joy in the form of victorias secret lotions, a san francicso key chain, and a white gold plumeria pendant with a teenyweeny diamond and a good sized seed pearl that i got out of an oyster on my vacation.

goal achieved, kristi was happy and smiling again

on saturday i decorated my mom's tree - me and my brother only broke a couple ornaments - fortunately not the sentimental ones. we threw away an ornament made from pasta that erik made back in 1990 which was disintegrating ... all over my pants.

it was fun and then it snowed some more so i kicked my brother out of his room and slept there another night!!
