Woot! Four hour delivery windows are awesome, especially if I can use them to pimp out yet another excellent story by
janedavitt. Since a sizeable fraction of my friendslist will be unfamiliar with Sentinel, it was Jane's Point of Contact story which lulled me over into a fandom where I've been firmly entrenched ever since. (At the time I'd vaguely remembered the show, but that story is AU and very low-key on the senses, so prior knowledge is unnecessary.)
So it goes without saying that I was a jumble of nerves and excitement at the prospect of providing artwork for her Moonridge 2010 story,
Testament (which is itself a sequel to the equally amazing
Legacy.)
The premise of Testament is that Blair has completed his sentence, and leaves prison (and thus Jim) behind. My initial attempt at this scene had Jim in the foreground, but then I happened across this Blair screencap from
Love and Guns [Sentinel Episode Archive], and just had to change my approach. Jim started out from that same episode (leading against the door, eating something) but then I remembered there was a Prisoner X episode, so I grabbed that shirt. I found a nice lost expression from the
Switchman Pilot [Starfox's Gallery] and cobbled together the pants/hands/arms from the same episode. Lots of dodge/blur/paint/burn/smudge - and it shows! (Thankfully both screencap sites label their pictures so it's easy to recreate this information. The prison background was not so easily re-located. Eep!)
This one still needs so much tweaking (I seem to have inadvertently erased half of Jim's chest? Woe!) and yes - it again is completely different from the first draft (I was attempting more Miss Badgersham like fur, and that was taking more time than I had.) Thankfully there are wolf dream sequences in the show, and so I played with this one from
Sentinel Too. Jim was supposed to be half-morphed, but I'll have you know that Jaguar bodies don't blend well into human ones. (The show itself mostly did badly lit blue torso shots! Now I know why!) Much of Jim's body also comes from Sentinel Too, although the head shot comes from
Warriors. [The Sentinel Episode Archives]
So there you have it! Although if you're still here reading, you're a FOOL because you should be reading over at
sentinelbigbang! And I can't believe I've gotten this far without saying a HUGE thanks to
briarwood for organizing all this!
