I have a cute apartment...anyone who's seen it can vouch.

There's a two bedroom apartment across the hall from me up for rent as of September 1st....I live in Sandy hill just off of Rideau St.

I am really upset about this because the people who are moving out happen to be good friends of mine... I live next door to two gay guys...and one's becoming a catholic priest...lol.

Anyway I am really crossing my fingers that I get a queer/queer positive neighbor (there's only 2 apartments per floor...so you kind of have to get along with your neighbor)

Anyway, it was built in 1907 so it's bursting with character, hardwood floors throughout, separate dining room, 10ft high ceilings and a faux fire place in the living room...it also has a clawfoot bath and tons and tons of big windows...parking, and hot water is included...the place has also been kept in excellent shape and the guy who does the maintenance is always pretty good at getting back quickly if something goes wrong.

Positives:

- Spacious and very very bright
- Clean building
- Quiet and really pretty area
- Laundry facilities on site
- FULL of character (everyone who walks into my apartment always remarks how much they love it)... it's a really unique place.
- 10 min walk from Market
- 15 min walk from Rideau Center
- 5 min walk from Loblaws, LCBO
- 10 min walk from Ottawa U
- Take-out and really neat ethnic cuisine restaurants are steps away.
- Bus Route 2 mins away (Across the street)...#2,7,14 and some other bus all pass by
- PARKING INCLUDED ... where in downtown are you ever going to find that!?
- Close to beautiful Strathcona park.
- You get to live across the hall from ME! I'm a good neighbour (the kind that will bake you cookies and bring you leftovers)
- Pets are allowed! I think it said on the lease that they weren't but if you tell the landlord that you have them he doesn't care...I have a cat...and there's a few cats and a dog in the building.

Negatives:

- Apartment gets really hot in the summer so A/C would be needed.
- One of the bedrooms is really small...but it works, when I had a roommate I lived in it for 2 years and really didn't mind it.
- In the laundry room there's 1 washer and 1 dryer...nobody is ever really down there but it's still a pain in the arse if you've got massive amounts of laundry to do.
- There are lots of stairs and no elavator.

I have been living there for 3 years and absolutely LOVE it ... there's no way I'm leaving unless I leave the city or buy a place.

It's a great place to live...the building is really well kept, there are only 7 apartments, so it's friendly and everyone who lives there are working professionals...there aren't any rowdy obnoxious students.

Rent as far as I know over there is $900...that's what I'm paying..if they are paying more then I don't think it's anymore than $920 or so.
