Good Lord, if I -never- have to load a microflm again I'll be sooooo happy. Though it is kinda cool, it ain't nearly as sexy as Chritian Bale makes it look in Velvet Goldmine. The bulb kept burning out, and the last article I had to view/print was at the end of a spool and the 'forward' knob kept sticking so eventually out of sheer frustration I resorted to reaching in and manually rolling the spool, resulting in a couple grazed knuckles.
BUT I GOT WHAT I NEEDED! (ok, what my boss needed). It took two days and four hours total to get FIVE articles BUT I WOULD NOT BE THWARTED!
Amusingly, my life is being monopolized by a presentation I'm giving Monday on the evolution of visual rhetoric in the mulitmedia age and its effects on composition education...I met with my professor this morning about how to structure the presentation and what topics to cover, and now I really want to just take the class to the library and have them all try to use the machine as an illustration of how far media technology has evolved in such a short period of time.
