I'm like a ketchup bottle, I know. First there's nothing, and then nothing, and then comes everything at once. With my posting, I mean.
But I just gotta rec this one-shot original fiction by
dontkickmycane. It's m/m relationship rather than slash, and it's wholly wonderful. Slight angst to make it interesting, and it makes you think about The Way Men Say I Love You. Yeah, that's the title. Go read, it's so worth it.
I came across it through a post at Uniquely Pleasurable, as it's listed in The Skinny.
And while you're at it, go look at the Skinny and read Special Forces by
marquesate and
vashtan, and the wonderful Freeman by claredivatoo. These are amazing original stories (m/m of course) and though I realize that Special Forces in particular might not be for everyone, you should try it out (heed the warnings). Cus if you do like it, you just hit the motherlode. Bigtime. It's high-quality, harsh, very very long and intense and unlike anything else I've read, plus it's still being written. Reminds me I gotta catch up.
If you like your fic a little more saga-like, set in older times and with magic to boot, Once A Slave seems good judging from the few chapters I've read. All these stories are linked in that Skinny page.
Yeah I have tons of really good original fic that I want people to read, but everyone has to become interested by themselves I guess. Not sure how to go about creating a rec page here at LJ, if I should just make it posts to put in my memories or what. Tips are welcome.
