Northwest Flight 255
Another year has gone by. No one has been forgotten. All names will be read with love upon the hill tonight, as well as in Phoenix, I'm sure. The memorial site itself is a quiet, peaceful little oasis. Knowing all the chaos taking place surrounding it, the effect is incredible. Thank you to all who keep the virtual 255 board running and active. I hope it never happens again, but in the sad case it does, I have learned so much from you and will do my best to see that past mistakes made in the aftermath are never repeated.
Our community still grieves intensely over the incident, whether they personally knew anyone on the flight or not. The premiere showings of the film Sole Survivor were sold out and many in the audience wept. A lot of those tears were of joy when Cecelia Cichan was interviewed. Way to go, kiddo! You've done well. Even before seeing the interview, I would have recognized that MD-82 tattoo and known instantly. I wish you the best in life, as I wish peace to the families, friends, co-workers, responders and community members left behind.
