I've been watching martial arts videos on youtube lately, and there's lots of great fight videos from mma, jiu-jitsu, and various other arts, but what I can't find is a video of anything close to a real fight involving aikido. You never see aikido in mma fights so I got curious how it would stack up. Searches for aikido return tons of hits but all the ones I'm seeing are choreographed 'demonstrations,' which bear less resemblence to an actual fight than the average kung fu movie. For example:

Steve would have more trouble if any of these stooges were trying to do anything other than fall down. This is not fighting. This is ballet.
So what's the deal? Is the practical usefulness of aikido being supressed by a conspiracy of silence? Or are the techniques only workable when you have a cooperative "opponent?"
