Well ladies and gents I'm back from my vacacion to Philadelphia. It was
pretty good. Had some good times with the fam. Let's see, where did we
go... well the first night we stayed in some place called Breezewood.
It was like, in the middle of nowhere. Pennsylvania is mostly forest.
Yeah. Forest. It was all hilly and mountainy and COVERED with trees. I
seriously fell asleep twice in the car everyday. lol. I got so much
sleep. The second day... Wednesday? Yeah. We visited Gettysburg. We
took an auto tour in the car. We drove around the battlefields and went
to the museum and stuff. The place where the actual fighting took place
was huge! I didn't realize how much space there really was that they
fought across. And it was all hilly and there were open fields, so if
you started going across the field you were basically a dead man.
This is from sitting at the top of one of the hills by the Eternal
Peace Flame thingy that Lincoln had built. As you can see, it's very
expansive and it goes on forever almost.
That's the Eternal Peace Flame thing. It was pretty cool.
So, after that we drove and stayed at some other place in PA. All over
the roads there were signs that said "Keep Alert" and "It's the Law"
like, almost every 10 miles. It was so funny. We don't have any signs
like that here in Michigan. Thursday we went to like, 4 places. We
visited this Pennsylvania Dutch museum thingy that was kind of like
Greenfield Village. It was kinda sucky, which everyone agreed. Then we
went into the Amish Country. Those people live so differently than us.
It's so weird. It has to be strange living with people who use
electricity and dress modernly, but you ride in a horse and buggy and
wear older style clothing and don't use electricity. I kinda felt bad
because everyone stared at them. It was interesting though. Then we
drove to Valley Forge, which was part of the Revolutionary War. It was
soooo pretty there. Rolling hills.
Valley Forge.
And the deer would seriously come right up to your car. It was crazy.
That was fun, too. OMG, it was sooooooooooooooooo much driving though.
It makes a 3 hour trip up north seem like nada compared to the 11 hours
it takes to get to Philly. Not that we did it all in one day, but
still. So, after Valley Forge we stayed in a city outside of Philly. We
visited this sweeet store called IKEA. It's a furniture store that has
a bunch of European style design pieces and OMG it was so cool. I got
this circular mirror with white foam around it... its so cool. It's
inspired me to change my room. The bedroom and kitchen layouts there
were off the hook. I mean, seriously. Amazing stuff. I can't wait. Then
Friday, yesterday, we visited Philly. It was such a cool city. It
wasn't like other cities I've been to. It wasn't dirty and there
weren't many creepy people. Granted, we were in the tourist-y part of
the city, but it was cool. We got to see the Liberty Bell.
Yup, that's the real thing. I know.I thought it was bigger, too.
And that is Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence
and the U.S. Constitution was signed. When I saw this building I
immediately thought of the movie National Treasure. Cuz that guy goes
up into where the Liberty Bell once hang and waited for a certain time
and then he could see where Franklin's glasses were hidden in a cut out
brick. lol. That sounds so unrealistic. lol. But it was cool. There
were people there who didn't speak English, which I found odd cuz I
didn't understand how this building had any relevance to them, unless
they just live here and they don't speak english. haha. I'm so tired.
But anyway, here's the inside of the Independence Hall.
This room used to be a courthouse for the state of PA.
And
this was the room where the Dec. of Ind. was signed and the
Constitution was signed by all those men way back when. And the chair
at the front of the room is the same chair that prez G. Washington sat
in. It was so weird being like, feet away from where the guy sat
over 200 years ago. But still cool. Philly was a cool city.
And here is the lovely new vehicle that my daddy now owns! It looks so
weird in our garage, but I like how it looks. I got to be the first one
to ride in it! I felt so special lol. Another biggy today, I drove by
myself for the first time EVER! I took Meredith and her bff Jessica to
the swim club and back. And I picked them up. OMG I was so nervous
though. But I did really good and I was really cool. Well, now that
I've wasted like an hour trying to get all these pictures up... I'm
gunna go watch tv. Yay vacation!
