Anti-OTP: Bedivere/Isobel

Dec 01, 2006 18:39

Bedivere is the outdoorsy brother, and he's enjoying the outdoors now to the fullest by streching out on the grass in the sun and taking a nap. Of course, he's not really napping, but no one is liable to notice that unless he decides to let them.

Isobel is out for a walk. She's spent a great deal of time in London, but she grew up in the country, and has always been fond of the outdoors. She hasn't noticed him, yet -- she seems to be quite absorbed in her thoughts.

He cracks his eyes open slightly and grins. "I wouldn't come any further this way if I were you, unless you want me to get an eyefull of whats under those pretty skirts."

She looks up with a startled sound, then smiles faintly -- it's a bemused sort of smile, one that says she really hasn't any idea what to make of him. "How good of you to warn me."

He laughs. "The least I could do, though I must say it was tempting not to." He opens his eyes to look at her, giving her a grin.

She laughs too, very softly. "And to think, you had nearly convinced me you meant to behave like a gentleman."

"Me? A gentleman? My lady, you simply must put that absurd notion out of your head right away." He rolls onto his stomach and props himself up on his elbows. "I'm a dreadful rogue who's liable to ravish you any second now."

"Ravishment? I'm afraid I couldn't allow that." She kneels on the ground next to him -- making it quite impossible to see what is under her skirts, of course, but also bringing her rather closer. "Even if you haven't any sense of decency, I have."

"But, decency aside, don't you think it sounds exciting? I've yet to meet a woman who hasn't secretly though about being taken against her will by a handsome devil. I suppose it's a product of all those terribly smutty romances girls read under the covers."

Isobel raises an eyebrow, looking vaguely amused. "I can't say I've ever read anything of the sort. As for thoughts of that sort . . . well. Perhaps it's because young girls are always being told they shouldn't enjoy such things. They think it would be acceptable if it were against their will. I think it has very little to do with actually wanting such a thing -- only with wanting to be absolved of blame." This may imply that she has given it some thought, but she isn't likely to admit to it.
