If there's something you'd like to try, ask me, I won't say no, how could I?

My vacation is officially over, and I feel happier and healthier than I have in a long time.

I didn't do anything special, just went up to Seoul. I wasn't even planning on spending the whole five days there, but it sort of worked out that way.  I really didn't even have specific plans; I didn't even know where I was sleeping.

Saturday night I met up with a group of people, some of whom I'd met before, a couple I hadn't.  We all knew each other from an online expat community of sorts.  We started out early, so we were being pretty chill, just having some beers.  By 8:00 one member of our party was totally toasted.  At eight o'clock!!  The drunker he got, the more outrageous he became.  He gave us lessons on how to properly punch people.  He also talked about all the drugs he had done, about the time he had spent in prison.  He also told us he was a border-line famous online cartoonist.  We ditched him when he went to the ATM to get some money.  We felt quasi-bad about it, but there was nothing else we could do, we didn't want to tow his insane self around with us.  Then we went to Castle Praha in Hongdae, which is a microbrewery in an old church.  It not only had good beer, but also the most lavish bathrooms I have ever seen.  It was like literally sitting on a throne.  After that, we headed to some club, and I met up with a cool Korean guy who let me spend the night in his apartment.  The next day, he took me around Seoul, which was nice.  For as many times as I've visited Seoul, I've never taken the time to check out any of the touristy spots.  We went to Insa-dong, a little markety type area with lots o' Korean goods, some of them more authentic than others.  We also went to a bunch of cool temples.  I might post some pics later.

But here is the most important part of my weekend: I met an AMAZING man on Monday.  And I do mean amazing.  Not only is he quite handsome, but also just a genuinely kind and interesting human being.  He's from Seoul but has spent a lot of time in the United States. He does massage and acupuncture.  I actually let him do acupuncture on me, on his bedroom floor.  I was so dubious and a little nervous about it, but it was a very interesting experience nonetheless.    He ended up doing a couple of different sessions on me, and it got easier each time.  I felt really healthy this week, but I don't know if it was the acupuncture or just my happiness with being with such a caring human being.

It's funny, because I didn't think he even liked me at first. The first day I met up with him, we went out with one of his coworkers.  (He teaches at a special effects institute.  How cool is that?)  They took me on a tour of their school, we went out for dinner, and had a beer at a rooftop bar.  Then we wanted to see a movie, but none of them looked any good, so we drank some more beer.  After that we went to a noraebang, which is a karaoke room place.  I didn't sing much, because I don't like singing unless I'm really drunk, but I did sing "You Can't Hurry Love," and "Karma Chameleon."  But mostly I just laughed at the antics of the two guys, because they were singing 80s songs in a terribly wonderful falsetto that about killed me.  We also went to a nightclub, but it was pretty empty because it was a Monday night.  Still, it was a lot of fun to just dance like crazy.  But like I said, I didn't think this guy liked me at first.  At least not in a romantic sense.  I spent most of the night talking to his friend.  Then all three of us went back to his apartment to watch a movie, and everyone was falling asleep, so we decided all to crash at his place.  We all settled down on this little mattress type thing thing, that was really only made for two people at most.  So as we settled in, he was laying a little closer than he had to, but I wasn't sure if it was just because of the smallness of the mattress.  I was very conflicted for a while; I wanted to make a move, but wasn't sure how he would react.  So I felt out the situation by scooting a little closer myself.  Soon we were holding hands and all that good stuff.  It was such shy high school nonsense to start out with, but it was kind of cute.

So long story short (or really long story somewhat less long), we ended up hanging out, just the two of us, for the rest of my vacation.  Just talking, ordering in food, watching movies, enjoying each other's company.  He really wowed me with how sweet he is.  I felt very comfortable with him.  Enough that I trusted him to put needles in my body, so that's saying something at least.

What can I say?  I'm smitten.
