I have had my 29 gallon since 97-98? Something like that. The hood finally died about a week and a half ago. Had to drive almost an hour to get one, because meijers and wlamart no longer carry hoods for large aquariums. Thank goodness for Petco. Also, even I love my 29 gallon, the most annoying thing is algea buildup on the ornaments. Anyone got any suggestion on how to keep it under control without damaging them and hitting them with a bunch of chemicals? Can't use algea destroyers because i have two breeding colonies of ramshorn and trumpet snails in the tank. In my experince some of those thing will kill them off. Normally the snails will gobble up the algea. they seem to be more interested in clinging to, and hiding in the plants. I am also amzed at how fast java moss grows once its established.
Pics of the tank under the cut.
The fishies are going we have lights!!! there are more ornaments buried under the java moss. I actually had that down to about half a few weeks ago by selling some off on ebay. Seems to have grown back already.

The spotted cory is also my oldest fish. I am thinking he/she is between 8-10 years old. Don't really remember exactly when I got it, but I know its been in there for a very long time.
