She's such a bully

Sometimes after a heavy rain
the sun spreads rainbows across the sky
 fantastic rainbows
which are only misshapen beams of light
with no pots of gold underneath.
   and in the desert, sometimes,
on the hottest days 
heat rises from the dunes
to make the thirsty see shimmering lakes in the sand
when in fact, there is nothing.
which just goes to show,

that nature is a jerk.
