This wasn't his idea of paradise.

Paradise, for him, would involve being back at home in Jersey, looking out over the shoreline there and knowing that he was where he belonged, in a place that was familiar, where he'd grown up and where he would always feel at home, Danny told himself.

Other people might think that Hawaii was paradise, but they would be wrong. Dead wrong. He had to admit that there were things about it he liked, if he wanted to be fair. The scenery was beautiful, and it was nice not to have to deal with blizzards and and icy roads in the winter.

But this would never be his paradise, no matter how long he was here.

Still, there was one thing that made him love Hawaii -- the one thing that kept him here, Danny thought as a slow smile spread over his face. Hawaii was Steve's home, where his boyfriend felt that he belonged. And Danny loved Steve too much to ever leave him.

He would stay here in Hawaii for the rest of his life if it meant that he would always be with Steve .Steve was his heart and soul, the center of his universe, his entire life. He loved his daughter, and he cared for his friends -- but Steve was the main reason he stayed here.

His paradise was here. A paradise that he found when Steve was in his arms.

Yeah, Hawaii itself had its good points -- but Steve was the main attraction of this place, at least for him. Without Steve by his side, he would feel lost and alone. No one else could ever replace the man who had stolen his heart. No one else would love him the way that Steve did.

They had shared so much in the time that they'd known each other, Danny told himself, thinking back over the time they'd been together, first as partners, then as a couple. That time had seemed to go by in a flash, the weeks and months becoming mere moments in time.

They would have more of those moments here in paradise. He knew it.

Nothing would tear the two of them apart -- and as long as Steve would be here, then he would be here. It might not be his idea of paradise, but having Steve here made it so. Paradise was here, and he was content to live out the rest of his days here with the man he loved.

Paradise or not, he belonged here, with the man he loved right by his side.
