I'm going to be a tap-dancing bear named Bertram.
Okay, I'll back up a little...
My summer in Duluth is slowly but surely falling into place.
First off, movies I've seen recently in theaters or on DVD that you should see:
Almost Famous, Rushmore, Hot Fuzz, Bug, and Knocked Up. I'm sure there are more I can't think of at the moment...
Second:
All the stress of finding a job I think has paid off:
I have a job starting relatively soon at the Snow Goose (Ha, I know, SNOW GOOSE...funny.) which is a cute little odds-and-ends retail shop right down the street from where I live. How convenient...but since I'm not starting there right away, I may end up for the next 3 weeks...get this, at Teleresources.
Essentially...working at Teleresources means calling people 5 hours a day. And becoming the person every household hates to hear on the other end of the phone! Myself included...but hey, for some extra paychecks, I say it's worth it to suck my soul out for a few measly weeks. I have a meeting tomorrow so I may start Monday if it works out.
Also. The tap-dancing bear thing? There is a children's show that travels throughout Minnesota in which there is a character named Bertram the Bear, of whom I will be doning the full-body costume and most likely doing a little tap dancing with my friend Lindsey (Anda the Panda, just FYI) as part of the show, potentially 5 or 6 times during the summer. Again, a few extra bucks? And most likely some hearty laughs...at mainly ourselves?...SO worth it.
Finally, Lindsey and I just attained a buskering license for the Downtown Lakewalk area, to tap for the public! Anytime we want through October...and we went through hell and high water to get a hold of some sturdy 3X4 wood and 2X4s to build some kickass tap boards. They actually do kick ass...and as often and as soon as possible, we plan on improv-ing, tapping, shim-shamming down by Lake Superior for anyone that's entertained enough to watch (and hopefully tip a little...).
SO. That's all happened in the past couple weeks, and then of course there's the Cell Block Tango Cabaret that is in rehearsals currently...I'm singing A Part of That from The Last 5 Years, and yes...If You Were Gay from Avenue Q...and lots of other sweet numbers with 14 friends o' mine from school or UMD alumni...so that goes up July 12th and runs for 3 weekends at the Duluth Playground (yes, it's a theater, not a playground...no jungle gyms. Just...scantily clad bitches and hoes!!)
Wow this is long. Thanks for giving two shits about my life and reading through it. Or if you just skipped to the end...I take the thanks back. UNthank you. Not really. I understand. I mean, I skim through things all the flippin time, who doesn't?! If you actually read through this whole shebang, I'm thoroughly impressed and even if you didn't...you rock my socks.
