The wind died down to dead last night about the time I wanted to go out. I jumped into the 4 runner and headed towards town. Arriving at my destination about 10pm I noticed that there was way too much traffic for me to feel comfortable. In my anticipation to get some good photos it completely slipped my mind that Saturday night would be hectic. I sat in the car for about half an hour waiting for the hustle and bustle of people frantically trying to reach their destinations to end
Finally around 10:30 I entered the cemetery and began taking pictures. After a few minutes I noticed a fire truck come around the corner and drive by. The first thought in my head when I saw it was "He's going to notify the sheriff that I'm here." With that I decided I had about fifteen minutes. A couple minutes later another fire truck drove by. My thought was "He's going to notify the man that I'm still here." So I got back in the car, started it and prepared to leave. Then I remembered that I wanted to take some photos with the strobe on to test my theory. I had turned the strobe off before I started. I shut off the engine, turned the red eye reduction strobe back on in the camera and took a couple of pictures from outside the fence. Then I returned to the car and was sitting there preparing to leave. I thought I might go down the next road and take some pics of the oasis from outside the fence.
Just as I was reaching for the ignition I looked in my rearview mirror and there was a sheriff cruiser creeping past me. Great, I thought. I hope he doesn't stop and hassle me. He slowly crept past me and stopped 25 yards up the road, right where the turn is to go by the oasis. He stopped right after I had started the car and put my foot on the brake to engage the tranny. Not wanting to look suspicious I put the car in reverse and backed out onto the street. Then he turned right down the road I was going to take. So thinking maybe he would leave and I could still get some oasis pics I turned down the same road behind him. He was going real slow and I knew he knew it was me behind him. 4 runners have a very distinct headlight configuration. My ESP told me if I stopped to take photos that he would circle around the block and confront me. So I thought it would be prudent to just call it a night and go home.
As I turned toward the highway I noticed the cruiser was driving in front of the entrance to the Inn. By the time I reached the highway he was behind me about a quarter mile back. I got on the highway and headed home. I live 17 miles outside of town. About two miles out of town I noticed some headlights way behind me coming up fast. ESP said it was the police. I thought to myself why would he be following me out of town unless he planned on stopping me. I soon noticed that there were two sets of lights coming up behind me. So I maintained my speed at 60 and remained calm and waited for the red light. The cops around here shine a bright red spotlight in your sideview mirror when they stop you. Soon the car was right up my tailpipe and I could see it was indeed a sheriff cruiser with another one right behind him. The speed limit on this part of the highway is 65 so I knew I wouldn't be stopped for speeding. The first one blew around me and the second one followed him as I let my breath out in relief. It was obvious that they had bigger fish to fry than me right then. They must have been on a call. My ESP didn't tell me they were on a call, it just notified me they were there.
Most of the pics I took have at least one orb in them but the last one I took with the strobe has the best. This lends creedence to my hypothesis that the red eye reduction strobe makes the orbs more visible. I'll post pictures in Aura Spectrum when I get around to it. Today I'm just going to kick it for the rest of the day. So till then...Peace everyone!
