Winter Wonderland

Neal lays in his room curled up in blankets with his space heater on full blast. The room soon turns into a sauna but it's what is needed for him to thaw out his nose and the rest of his extremities from the unusual cold weather the south has brought to his doorstep.

It's almost winter now, America is that awkward middle child of a season where it can't commit to one climate. It doesn't want to be warm anymore but won't bring the arctic beauty that is snow. The leaves still holding onto their limbs like an old cancer patient to it's bed. "What good is winter without snow?" Neal thought as he laid in bed thinking of his life and last night. As predicted Helen lived up to her name and is just a scar in the mind you come across every so often and you remember how you got it... Anyways, Neal has hopped onto a new train that will probably be short lived and end in a wreckage of steel. But something is different about this train, it's familiar, it knows how to comfort me, it's smooth.

Through the haze and blurry memories of summer come the plowing and reaping of fall. Neal prepares for his harvest not of this year but of next, mending his fields and trying to keep them warm for the planting of spring.
