Sweet Valley High #66 Who's To Blame?

Feb 18, 2008 21:54

Hope I am not overloading with the recaps. I have one more to go (#69 hoot hoot! and then I am out of the ones I picked up at the used book store. :( Oh, well, I'll just have to get more!) Oh, and I added a "Dance!" tag so whenever a book I am recapping has a dance, I'll use that. And whenever there is a Party! I'll use a Party! tag. So we can see ( Read more... )

Liz is of course all emo and wishing her family wasn’t falling apart while Jess is actually kinda excited. (when my parents split up, I was rather young, but I don’t think being excited about being able to visit my dad once in a while and have him take me out for dinner was how I reacted.)

Actually I was fourteen (so, younger than the twins circa SVH) when my parents split and I was excited about it. My parents were never really right for each other.

I suppose that is that possibility, but we all know that Alice and Ned are MADE FOR EACH OTHER and are soulmates. So the rending of that perfect relationship is supposed to be a tragedy and not an opportunity for dinners-with-dad and excitement. Of course, we are talking about Jess and she did turn it to a situation that benefited her best. :-P But if I were going to be all deep, I'd probably say it was her coping mechanism to pretend that it wasn't a bad thing that was happening.

I've actually used that coping mechanism in the past and had friends think I was insane ("Why are you acting HAPPY about potentially getting fired by your psychotic bully of a boss?!" Because singing rude songs about her love of wearing sleeveless tops with armpit hair down to her ankles makes me feel better than thinking about a shitty reality that I can't change, DUH!), so if that's what Jess is doing, I feel her.

So, instead of saying "Elizabeth is running away!" the cover should have said, "Elizabeth is having a sleepover at Enid's without permission!" Scandalous!

Hee. What a drama-queeny loser. And I love how Todd can never tell Liz and Jess apart, even when he's vowing undying love. When Sam was the one to finally call him out for that, it was one of my favorite moments of the entire series.

Yeah, that cover was so anti-climactic. I kept hoping that Liz would at least make it to L.A. or something and spend the night in a dark, seedy bus station. But Enid's house had to stand in for the germy bus station.

I'm betting Todd was being such a tool because he was confused. He couldn't figure out which Wakefield parent to punch in order to solve the problem.

Punching does solve all the world's problems, right? Right?

Oh, thank you for recapping this! I finally know what happened with Charlie. It was a bit anticlimactic, but oh well.

Yeah, is he even mentioned in the next book? Does he date Amy or does Jess win him back or does he just quietly shuffle back to whatever town he was from?

LOL totally anticlimactic. The picture on the front cover Actualy Never Happened. Why does Liz NEVER talk to anyone? Also Todd was seriously painful this time around. Ah, Sweet Valley. I'm a little disappointed there was no banner saying "Sweet Valley Loves You, Liz!" when she got back from Enids.
