SVT Super Chiller #3 - The Carnival Ghost

Oct 19, 2007 14:49

This was my favourite SVT book; it's the first one I ever read from the Public Library. I remember borrowing it on the basis it was a ghost book, and then I got hooked on the SVT series, and, eventually SVH etc! I bought it from the library when they deemed it was too tatty to remain on the shelf any longer and I still have it now :-). So, here it ( Read more... )

Gosh, I remember this book. I loved this book! Every time I re-read it, I always had goosebumps.

I think I'll go and dig through my junk for it.

So Sweet Valley is dealing with the supernatural now? Rad. And Jessica doesn't sound 100% shallow and vapid in this one. WOWS! And of course Lizzie wouldn't be traumautized by the ghost--she'll go through boyfriend deaths, murder accusation, stalking, rape, the near-murder of her mother...and usually blink it off by the next cornball installment. :p

BTW, a sloppy joe is a sandwich made with ground meat swimming in this sweet sauce.

No, in the super chillers, it's usually Liz who is taken over, and Jess saves the day. Same with Evil Elizabeth. Next recap is going to be The Ghost in the graveyard i think!

An American carnival has a few low-key acts (nothing big, like a circus) such as magic tricks, horse shows, and kiddie plays, along with rides (the most popular include the merry-go-round, teacups, Ferris Wheel, and Bungee Ride) and LOTS of junks food--cotton candy, popcorn, corn on the cob, candy bars, sodas, fried chicken, lemonade, and now--fried Snickers bars.

OMG You don't have sloppy joes?

They're basically loose beef with mixed with tomato paste and onion on a bun. (Sounds disgusting...I know)

I eat the vegan version, but it's delicious.

Well, we have things that sound like them, but I've never heard them called as Sloppy Joes! Sounds good apart from the tomato!

excellent recap

This was my favourite SVT book;
it was always my favorite too! I remember being sooo scared when I read it the first time

two notes: carnivals in America are usually a few rides like the Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, giant slide, swings, ghostride/house, scrambler, tilt-a-whirl, a few others. Lots and lots of game booths, a ton of food booths, and then usually some arts and crafts booths and in small town carnivals local associations will have booths, and local bands will play.

And most Americans have no idea what boxing day is, the day after Christmas is usually a time to be lazy and enjoy your new things, or to exchange presents you don’t like at the stores for better ones.

Oh right, I did find it strange that shops were open, and restaurants, and also that the girls would be allowed out. My family used to make a big deal of Xmas; I can't imagine my parents letting me out on Boxing Day lol
