This is one of my favourite SVT books, because it’s so damn ridiculous, and for once doesn’t involve anyone getting tormented. I forgot how little the essay competition features in the book - I suppose they had to allow time for judging and so forth.

Judging by the SVH books, apparently that lesson didn't last very long.
Brooke suggests that Lila tell the other Unicorns she’s allergic to purple, and that’s why she can’t join them.

Jessica squints to read the fine print in the competition - next edition she needs glasses.
She must switch to contacts in high school and university then, because there's no mention of her wearing glasses in any of the other books. Ah, Sweet Valley writers, let me introduce you to a thing called continuity...

At the time, it was all "I wish I had a boy like Todd, instead of all the losers in my class". Now it's more like watching a younger sister with her first boyfriend, and being oddly proud.

2) why on earth would a busy woman take her time to come teach a 12 year old liar a lesson? how is she going to feel when she reads the rest of the series and sees the lesson didn't stick?
