SVU #51: Living Together

Apr 24, 2013 22:42

So guess what, you guys? Jessica and Elizabeth are starting their sophomore year at SVU, despite the fact that there have been four summers since the damn series began. Yes, four summers. That's not my fancy, facetious way of saying that SVU went on  too long. There are literally four miniseries that specifically take place during summer. And a Read more... )

Line of the book right here: "Neil stifled the unkind urge to ask what she knew about being an adult when Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield were paying her and Jessica's rent."
HA! Neil rocks. I remember him thinking Jessica should breathe into a paper bag or just put one over her head one time when she was squawking about something in another book.

Just when I think Todd could actually be normal, he randomly does a striptease and tells Dana to "behold my studliness!"
Ah, this explains the Wednesday gifts - he's just heard that Wednesday is Hump Day!

Sam also hated belts in book #50.
He's a fundamentalist Christian with 17 (give or take) kids?

So...when on the Liz-Tom-Todd-Dana-Gin-Yung timeline would that have happened? Did that happen?
Yup, it happened, and it was a favour to Lila, though I don't remember the hows and whys or which book it was in (though it was during one of the thriller-ish plots, I think.) I do remember Bruce calling her Cruddy (while they were deciding what to do, not in front of Chloe) and Lila snapping "CHLOE!", then Tom thinking Chloe was going to be really superficial but then Lila was talking about this face cream that felt tingly and Chloe said that was chemicals eating her face. She was written as smart, well-read and confident, nothing like the desperate loser she is in the SVU sophomore books. Tom was also impressed by her and realised he'd been judging a book by its cover, so even if he wasn't that into her, I'd have thought he'd remember her.

Yep, when Chloe was introduced, there was no hint of the psycho she would turn into in later books. I am pretty sure it was the series before the road trip series.

GREAT recap!!!

Not even a hint of foreshadowing? WHO ARE YOU, GHOSTWRITERS?? Foreshadowing is our bread and butter!

Yup, it happened
This is awesome. When I have more time, I'll investigate that. Weirdly, I also remember the Bruce 'Cruddy' thing.

Also, Chloe being smart, well-read and confident? Gone. Completely gonzo. This is insecure, neurotic Chloe. She inspires hatred and nothing else.

EDIT: Found it! I can't believe I'd forget a plot from that book; I only read it five hundred times in primary school!
