Sweet Valley University #22: Elizabeth's Summer Love

Dec 29, 2011 15:23

This book is one of the most awesome books not to be recapped on this site. I can't understand why it hasn't been. Summer! Romance! Everyone living in a huge three-storey house together and having fun! It's amazing. I mean, look at the cover:

OH MY GOD, THIS WAS FRIGGING HILARIOUS! I had a huge chunk of SVU books missing from my collection; the mid-teens through the late 20's, I think, so I missed the whole Lifeguard series!

Thank you for, um, "enriching" my life with this recap. Now I've met the merman God of the Beach and Captain Feathersword and creepy Paul, and my life is FULFILLED. ♥

Ok, first of , the image is brilliant. Though I can see how Jersey Shore/SVU might turn into a black hole of despair.

I am glad someone else recapped one of these beach ones. I still can't get over the idea of these people being lifeguards. It makes me wonder if a whole town can drown at one time.

Totally going to call him "Ryan Taylor: GOB" from now on!

This is brilliant! Never read these ones, but your recap does just fine. Loving the whole mythos of Ryan Taylor. Also terrified at the idea that these people are actually responsible for saving lives. It's really not good.

Tbe Wakefields-saving-lives thing is all sorts of horrifying. Literally anyone else would be more helpful in an emergency, 'cept maybe Enid.

I can't recall, but I seem to remember Liz doing the pretend-my-bf-is-someone-else-I-like thing on another occasion. Maybe when she was falling in love with Bruce?

Love these beach miniseries! So off-the-wall.

Haha! I loved Danny and Tom's plan for a totally non-homoerotic holiday together. Seriously, what guy needs the hint to drive up to the beach and see their girlfriend?!? Eh, I suppose the sort of guy who dates Liz Wakefield, Lifeguard Goddess who strips down before calling in an emergency on the radio. And who is really surprised that Liz is cheating on her boyfriend? How did I not realize what a cheater she is when I first read these books?

I never liked Liz as much as Jess, but I never noticed how morally repulsive she was, either. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I also never noticed Todd's punchiness eiher.
