Okay, so. This isn't a book re-cap, per se. It's more of a
1bruce1 recap. I mean, I know we've had these sorts of posts before, but this is different. THIS HAS GRAPHS AND STUFF, YOU GUYS! So it's really more of a
1bruce1 Board Meeting!!
Everything I know about board meetings comes from stock photos. Like, the ones with businessmen sporting cheesy grins and a double thumbs-up. Or standing in front of a white backdrop, leaping enthusiastically into the air. That's what usually happens at board meetings, right? It definitely happens during board meetings in Sweet Valley.
This is totally what Ned Wakefields lawyer-meetings are like. "You guys! The group trampoline has been installed on level 4! LET'S GO!"
But also, graphs happen!!
1. Intro
WELCOME TO THE
1bruce1 BOARD MEETING! These ~figures~ are based on the usage of our
tags, btw. Yeah, I was in a bit of a be-fascinated-by-the-tags mood last night, when I made these.
Okay, graph number 1, a basic one to get into the swing of things! Let's check out how our posts have been distributed across the various spin-offs:
See, don't you feel all business-y right now? I know I do.
Sadly, The Unicorn Club series is missing from the graph. But Excel made up for that by using two similar purple-ish shades! Janet Howell would be pleased. Ngl, I confused the SVT colour with the SVSY colour and I was all "HOLY CRAP, REALLY? ...oh".
2. Those Wacky Wakefields
Okay, some Jess vs Liz action! This first graph focuses on the tags that represent Jess and Liz's recurring sainthood and sociopathy.
Holy crap!
Um, I should point out these aren't percentages of all the recaps (I was too lazy for that). But it does mean that the Saint Elizabeth of Sweet Valley tag was used as much as Doormat Syndrome, Scheming Jessica and Sociopathic Jessica combined! I should be less surprised than I am. Wow.
Also, Ned's tags vs Alice's tags! And the number of time each has been used:
Lol, for comparison: Saint Elizabeth of Sweet Valley has been used 212 times.
Also, the Bad Parenting tag has been used 42 times. Make of that what you will. Really, all this graph says is that Alice hovers around uselessly more often than Ned does. All those times that Alice is tagged and Ned isn't, it's probably because he's at work doing this:
In his defense though, "Wakefield" is easy to misspell. Damn i before e rule, it makes signatures hard.
3. OMG BOYFRIENDS!
Boyfriends are important. I mean, if we take nothing else away from Sweet Valley, we should at least take that. First, an enlightening Todd graph:
In my head, a Todd Punch is like Captain Falcon's punch. It comes with a proclamation a la "FALCON PUNCH!"
So this may look surprising at first, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Like, Todd hadn't really learnt how to punch in SVK and SVT. Series-wide, just under a quarter is actually quite impressive. Nice work, Captain Wilkins!
For Jessica, I thought a spread of her different boyfriends would be sort of fascinating. Um, before the graph, a disclaimer: I've always been an SVT kinda girl, and I had to check the ever helpful
wiki to see who her other boyfriends were. I have, in all likelihood, left someone out. Which is a tragedy. THESE GRAPHS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS.
I am, however, aware that Jessica's love life is like a Final Destination movie.
This is just their ~general screentime throughout the series as a whole, it's not really reflective of their time spent in the sociopathic arms of Jessica Wakefield. Man, I love Aaron Dallas in SVT. Remember
that book when Jess wanted a new boyfriend but ended up back with Aaron because they both loved pineapple on their pizza? Awww ♥
4. School is just that place where you go to find people to invite to your parties, amirite?!
First off, the all-important question: which season's break happens most often?
This is unsurprising.
But what is surprising is the comparative lack of a Spring Break. What gives, Sweet Valley? Spring Break is essential preparation for Summer!
Also, a dance-off!
It almost makes dances look neglected D:
I mean, a dance is really a sub-type of party. STILL. Nothing says party like column graphs!
5. Moar battles!
Let's round off the meeting with some battles expressed via graph. First off, the Battle of the Mythical Creatures! Because they are wont to run amok in Sweet Valley.
The numbers may not seem huge, but the fact that they are above 0 is kind of enough.
Also, by the way, the column for unicorns isn't talking about the SVT spin off. And it isn't talking about each time the prettiest, most popular girls at Sweet Valley Middle School appear in a book.
I'm talking about times when these things turn up.
Okay, so we don't have a tag for actual unicorn sightings. I went on memory. I could think
of two books. Are there more? (Answer: I hope so.) Either way, it seems that vampires win the mythical creature battle.
Okay, Battle #2! Battle of the crazy:
Hilariously, it almost reminds me of a peace sign.
William White wins. But it looks rather even, doncha think?
And we will end on the fabulousness that is Bruce vs Lila:
Obviously.
Really, what is there to say? (Other than duh.)
6. The End
I don't know about you guys, but I for one feel enlightened.
Okay. Back to your desks, everyone.
