SVH #1: Double Love

Oct 06, 2007 11:39

Before I begin, SVH teacher's notes!! Sample quote: The Stolen Diary deals entirely with the isolated world of teenagers. Adults hardly enter this world, except as shadowy figures in the background. The themes of the book cover fundamental teenage issues, such as love, friendship, loyalty and fun. The lives of the young people, although packed with ( Read more... )

Princess Tiana in your icon made me smile. The recap made me laugh. I remember reading this book after just about every other SVH book I owned and hating it because it was - wait for it - sooooo unrealistic. Hee!

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to the film! And your icon is absolutely brilliant!

Oh, man. Teacher's notes? I'm seriously cracking up here. Did you see the "glossary" they felt might be good to go over? *dead*

I think the white spot on Liz's nose is supposed to just be shine. There's a similar white spot on Jessica's lower lip.

I know! I nearly commented on it, but then I couldn't think of anything to say other than, "Check out that awesome glossary!"

I think the white spot on Liz's nose is supposed to just be shine.
Yeah, I did get that.

A spot of SHINE??? On a perfect Wakefield girl's face? Gawsh. I would have thought they'd have perfect, matte skin to go with their perfect figures.

So they did change things. Someone told me they hadn't. I can't wait till the US release. Great recap! ^_^

Ninety-nine percent of it's the same, I think - it's just a few details here and there. Most noticeably (and I forgot to mention this in the recap) the book doesn't have the little questions in bold right at the end - like, "What can Enid's terrible secret be and how does Jessica use it against her! Find out in SVH #2: Secrets!" Which is a shame!

I really can't wait for the really updated editions which have mobile phones and emails! I think they're coming out next year, right?

And thanks. :)

I can't either. I hope we get better covers than those vector things. ^_^ I'm wondering exactly how they're going to integrate cell phones. Some of the plots could've been totally averted had they had a cell phone. I'm guessing Jessica will be losing hers constantly or forgetting to charge it.

I would wholeheartedly buy into a cellphone-smashing-of-rage scene in every book. There isn't a single Sweet Valley citizen who wouldn't throw his or her phone against the wall every now and then. Hell, I bet Lila goes through two or three phones a week.

is that a gleam of sociopathy in Jess' Pacific Ocean blue eye?
Ba. Ha. Hahahaha!

She'd do the decent thing. Die.
Agreed at giggle fest. What the fuck, Liz? Over dramatic much?

But when Todd is attracted to Liz "anyway", even though he looks down on her for going to Kelly's, he gets away with it. The hell?
See, they were rotten from the start. Todd is such a condescending, hypocritical, holier-than-thou creep.
Which I guess makes him perfect for Liz..

Very true. I can now understand their attraction. ^_^

I am so pleased that even though I loved the Liz/Todd ship as a kid, I didn't actually aspire to have a boyfriend like him. Todd really sucks in the early books.
