SVT #52 - Booster Boycott

Sep 30, 2007 20:16

In which we learn that men can't be discriminated against. And unlike the name suggests, there is no boycott of the Boosters. And they don't really boycott anything either.

This book has a darling cover of Winston cheering into a megaphone whilst Jessica stands to the side, letting flies into her mouth.

Ha, the title's kinda clever. Because the Boosters are boycotting having a boy on their team! "Boy"cotting! Awww, puns.

Winston is exactly the sort of guy who, once school is over, the grown-up Boosters wouldn't be able to buy a date with. Haha!

I love the Elizabeth/Todd subplot. But Todd doesn't try to punch anyone out? That seems a letdown.

Sweet Valley Twins is distinctly lacking in punch-outs and people being pushed in pools. It's a serious flaw.

I actually remember this one! I know I read it. I wanted Winston to be a cheerleader. It's sort of odd though since he's described as such a klutz in all the other serieses. (I'm thinking of his "comical" escapades rollerblading in SVU.) That Winston would break his neck doing these cheers.

no-handed cartwheels (do they even exist?
Yep.

Nerd uprising! Storm the winter palace!
Viva la nerd revolution!

The only realistic part of this is some older guys calling him Winnie.
Well he better get used to that...

They go from last, to second place. But the biggest winner of all is Winston, who gets together with Grace.

Love the rhyme. ^_^ I actually really liked this book, too. It's one of the few I don't own, sadly.

Jessica helpfully points out that it’s not discrimination, because you can’t discriminate against boys.

I smell a lawsuit.
