2008 Re-Releases

Dec 28, 2008 17:27

Mods, feel free to delete as this is a bit OT, but I just finished the re-release of Dangerous Love, and there wasn't a preview for #7 in the back.  I checked Amazon, and there weren't any future releases posted.  Anyone know if Random House decided to stop after book 6 instead of doing the first 12?  I was just getting used to the new addition of ( Read more... )

Oh noes! No info for you, just commiserating...I really wanted this series to keep going so I could see if they'd modern up Regina's one-line-of-coke-omg-the-drugs death...

I don't see another book mentioned on the Random House website either. Maybe sales aren't so good. Should we all go buy them?

I saw that on Random House's site, too. I guess the fact that they haven't carried the last few in the Borders or Barnes & Nobles stores around me were a clue that sales haven't been great. But they can't end the reissue with Jessica saying, "Wake up, wake up, wake up" to Liz over and over!

It's a good thing this community is here to tell you what happens. It would be not right if they got so close to genius "Dear Sister" but never published it. Tragedy. We should write letters.

I know, it would be quite cruel. I'm just pissed because I was psyched to see how they would spin Bruce's almost date rape. Then again, if they ended the '08 "series" at #12, there would be a cliffhanger of Elizabeth being kidnapped by Crazy Carl, and we would never know of his delicious frozen pancakes.

I agree. There's plenty of good crap availlable for kids nowadays, the least they could do is leave our crap alone.

Yes! My feelings exactly.

I did not read the reissues -- I don't want to tamper with my beloved memories :)

I was prett hesitant to read the new ones, but they're just hilarious. It's kind of fun to compare them to the old ones. I particularly love how the updated books have handled the addition of cell phones...they're always stolen or have dead batteries (or, as in the recent release of #5, thrown in a lake). I would just hate to be deprived of the update of "Dear Sister" and seeing if Bruce Patman still tried to paper cup Liz.

D: I really hope they don't discontinue the reissues, otherwise I'm going to have to go back to stealing the books from libraries. And I really don't want to do that. I guess they're not doing too great -- I could only find one copy of the new #6 (and I couldn't find #5 at all), and it thrown away in the sci-fi section. Oh, Sweet Valley. You tried so hard.
