Sweet Valley University #30: Beauty and the Beach

This is the first book in the second “Lifeguards” series of SVU. If you had asked me a week ago if there was such a mini-series, I would've told you that you were high. No one would be stupid enough to put their life in Jessica and Elizabeth's hands once, let alone on two separate occasions. Those ( Read more... )

I remember these books being what springboarded me to not reading SVU anymore. I was like... okay, I can handle plane crashes involving cheating boyfriends, homicidal evil twins, fake rape, dead professors, magical vodka, etc. But a Baywatch ripoff? that's where I draw the line, missy!

that being said, I LOVED Stu and Miranda.

Buffy reference for the win!

You know, you'd think they'd run out of storylines, or quit recycling them. Why am I just waiting for Mike to show up in the next installment? It'd complete the WTFery that is Wakefield Dating 101.

Also, this Stu person seems creepy. Very, very creepy. He must have bonded with the crazy people on how to stalk pretty girls. I bet he even excelled. I vaguely remember Nina, and I always liked her. Now she's just a lying backstabbing cheater of a girlfriend. I expect this from the twins, not their friends! And Lila and Isabella should always been added. They make the world a better place. With rainbows and hundred dollar bills flying from the clouds better.

This should be an icon.

Stu creeps me out too. Nina I'm upset with. She used to be a bright spot in my SVU, but now she's cheating on Bryan (she thinks he's cheating on her--how is that an excuse?) and she's attracted to creepy Stu.

An animated one in cartoon style.

Stu seemed really icky. Nina seems to be falling into the Twins Dimension of lying, cheating, demanding, always unhappy girlfriends. Didn't Alex/Enid turn into one of those, too? Talk about heading back to her roots.

I can't say that Enid turned into a cheating girlfriend--I didn't read that far into the series. Although, considering this is Sweet Valley, it's highly likely. I know she was a demanding, unhappy girlfriend. Kinda clingy--basing her whole life around her boyfriend. And she became sort of an alkie again. :(

Could be because it's 12:30 in the morning here, but I almost fell out of my chair laughing at this:

"Elizabeth couldn't suppress the feeling of warmth that was rising up within her like a riptide. But instead of giving into it, Elizabeth just felt uncomfortable...”. She feels uncomfortable? How do you think I feel?"

I remember loathing Ryan and Priya the first time I read this.

I like the book cover, where they're clearly pointing and laughing at some drowning kid.
