Reader of the Month

I'm fairly certain I actually wrote one of these when I was 11 but I can't find it :( I'm a terribly uncreative person but I desperately want one of those bags so I've given it a go.

Due to me being 11 in 1999, none of my photos have what I'd consider bad hair and I don't look particularly awkward. So I include 2 photos, one of me at 11 and one of my mother with delightfully bad 1980's hair. You can just see my attempt at barettes in the first photo. My Mum and I look a fair bit alike so I'd consider it a good representation of what I would look like had I been a teenager back then, and yes I am that fat baby.

Hi! My name is Emily. I am 11 years old and I live in Sydney, Australia. It’s a long way from California but when I read Sweet Valley books it’s like I am right there with my two best friends, Jessica and Elizabeth! I like reading Sweet Valley books because they live an ordinary life just like me. When I have a problem with one of my friends I just look to the twins for advice. They are my role models as well as my friends. They also teach me morals like if you lie it will usually come true anyway!

I laugh and cry along with the twins. When Todd had to move to Vermont I cried, I couldn’t imagine the pain Elizabeth was going through and when he came back to Sweet Valley I rejoiced! Todd is much cuter than Jeffery so I was glad when she loved Todd again. Mum says I can’t have a boyfriend until I am 14 so reading about Elizabeth and Todd is wonderful for me. Sweet Valley books give me a special feeling deep inside when I read them.

When I was 10 I read SVT#25 where Billie gets her period. I didn’t know what that meant so I asked my Dad. It was embarrassing but without Sweet Valley I would never have been prepared! Also, if my sister ever gets amnesia I now know that she should knock her head on a table and she’ll be back to normal! Thank you Sweet Valley for not only being entertaining but educational too!

Sweet Valley books have taught me to be nice to everyone and only say bad things when they aren’t listening. Sweet Valley has also taught me that being a perfect size six is one of the most important things and that if you become a size six you are a better person. I’m already practising exercises to do for when I start to get my figure. Because of the twins I have decided that I am going to be both a writer and a supermodel when I grow up.

I got my Mum to read some Sweet Valley books so she could be just like Alice, the twins Mum. I think it would be great to have your Mum be just like a big sister.

My favourite Sweet Valley book is SVH Super Thriller: The Return of the Evil Twin. I like this book because it is scary and suspenseful. I liked the way that we thought Margo had died but then she came back, and with a twin!

I just love Sweet Valley so much. When I grow up I’m going to move to a place just like Sweet Valley and I’m going to encourage my children to read Sweet Valley books and I hope the twins will always be there for them too.

Sweet Valley books have made growing up easier and more fun and the world is a better place with them in it. Thank you Francine Pascal for writing these amazing books.
