Note to self: Never show purchased Pink Floyd CDs to parents...
Their response: "OH MY GOD ADAM BOUGHT A PINK FLOYD CD! I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T LIKE ANYTHING WE LISTEN TO!"
Wtf. They know I like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
It's really sad. Because every time I mention something about either two bands, they say something along those lines, in shock. It's so sad. Then they'll overhear me listening to something else, like RATFE, and then they'll say, I wish you would listen to the music WE like... It's really sad that my parents are fucking retarded.
Then I say "Maybe I'll like more of what you listen to if you like what I'm listening to". Then my mom says "No, I don't like metal.". wtf again... I don't listen to metal. I don't like metal. They automatically think that just because the music I listen to has screaming in it determines the genre of the music I listen to. And it is a bad determination to begin with. They won't even give anything I listen to a chance. I was listening to Further Seems Forever today, and I figured it was quite possible that they might be a bit appealing to my mom... So I say "come over here and check this band out, mom", and she says "I don't want to hear your fucking bullshit bands. All they do is scream." I said "This band doesn't scream". Then she just said "I still don't want to hear it, Adam." It's really sad.
My sister's going to be the same exact way. She bought the new Dashboard CD last night. So I figure she's starting to get into the whole puss-rock type thing. First SoCo, then DC... So I figure she'd probably like The Early November. I tell her that, and she says "Bullshit. I bet they suck."
Does anyone want to help me run away?
