thanks for more info, I'm going to add this to my memories, and I'll read through it when I get a chance. I have stuff due in all four of my classes this week, so I've been kind of busy. 3 posts a day is more than I can keep up with ;-)

gluck with that stuff. Al's article is well worth the read. One thing you have to keep in mind on this stuff is that the dems have been trying to push this through the senate and the congress for years.

The problem is that ... right now the homosexual community might be cheering it, but some day those who are pushing their agenda might not be in power and the definition of "hate speech" will likely change

and all this will come back to bite them on the butt.

well, like I said, I'll take a closer look at this once the school situation settles down, although after our previous debates about gay rights, I've come to the conclusion that there are certain things I prefer not to debate with you.

"gay rights"

It's no wonder.

What I think he means is that usually the gay rights proponents are diametrically opposed to anyone who even so much as sympathizes with the Christian philosophy or religion.

...

I think.

I suppose that works if we agree to pretend that liberal Christians don't exist, and certainly we have to pretend that there are no gay Christians. Supporters of gay people and people "who even so much as sympathize with the Christian philosophy or religion" are not mutually exclusive groups. There are plenty of people who would fall into both categories, myself included.

Of course, "left" and "Christian" aren't mutually exclusive either, but playing us vs. them really is quite fun.

Replace "Christian philosophy or religion" with "conservative ideologies" and you would probably have a much more accurate statement.

although the more I think about it, my revised statement is equally weak, since there are gay conservatives out there, so forget that last line.

you'd also have to understand that the bible is very specific about what is accepted sexually. One man, one woman, marriage and nothing out side of that ( ... )

I've read the Bible cover to cover several times, so I'm well aware of this. I suppose I should clarify that I stopped considering myself a Christian a while ago. I don't recall if I've talked about this in my journal or not.

You hadn't from what I'd read, and frankly I wasn't really talking about you. I'm more talking about the over all trend of the gay community attempting to over run the conservative church and change its doctorine to suit it's agenda.

That really pisses me off.

You don't like what a church teaches? Don't attend it. You'd think we were the ones crashing airplanes into buildings and executing gays in the streets of the nations we're most concentrated in.

Nope.

well, when I get a comment in my in box which starts out with "you'd also have to understand..." I tend to assume that the comment is aimed at me.

We've discussed this stuff about the "gay community" (a term I'm not crazy about, as I don't feel a part of any community) before. I don't see the need to rehash it again.

Yeah. In all seriousness if you were part of that group of people you and I probably wouldn't be reading eachother's journals. The most heinous personal attacks I've ever recieved from online readers has come out of that group and the militant atheist movement.

Anyway, nuff said.
