My Math Experiment - Starting From the Very Beginning

Dec 16, 2008 12:16

So recently, when Mike and I were playing King's Bounty, I saw my old Calculus workbook in our bookshelf. So I was like, "Hey, when we're done playing King's Bounty, can we go over some Calculus problems together, to brush up on some math?" And he was like, "Sure!" So, I began to do some calculus problems. Only a few of them came to me easily, and this was starting from like lesson one, the basics of calculus, limits, all that stuff that should be easy, right? I didn't even remember how to factor something like x2 - 2x - 3. I finally remembered after Mike gave me some hints...but I felt like a dumbass! I used to be so good at math, and then I just didn't do math for a while, and then I forgot things :(

So, I've decided that I want to start from the very beginning, to make sure there was nothing that I missed growing up in grade school. I'm starting from the very beginning - first grade math and up.

Yes, that's right. Even if it's so easy and I get it done really fast, I am going to start over from the beginning, and work my way up back to Calculus level math. Why? Because there's probably a crap ton of other kinds of math that I have forgotten to do as well, or maybe something that I didn't understand completely, and therefore honing my overall math skills.

On a completely different subject, I got 12 misses on Chopstix NM on the NX2 machine at XScape. Funny story behind that too, I meant to do the crazy, cuz Tim and I were showboatin' for these adult peoples, and by that point I was tired. So I wanted to do the crazy, but my mind has been like "auto-Nightmare" lately, so I did the 16 footer nightmare instead of the crazy. And for some reason I kicked some butt on it.

That is my great accomplishment of the day.

I worked until nearly 10:45 tonight at Noodles. I was supposed to get off at 8pm. Haley freaking switched her shift with Heysel, who needed a ride home with the other Katy that was at work tonight, who also got off at 8pm, and Haley was supposed to close. To simplify, Heysel was scheduled until 9:30, which is closing, and the other Katy and I both were scheduled until 8pm. And Katy had to take Heysel home. And Katy lives far from Noodles, I guess, so it would suck for her to have to drive home and drive back. So they begged me to close. And I really didn't want to, and was so close to saying no. But, being the fucking softy that I am, I stayed. I will have to close tomorrow and Thursday too. Which I hate. Because I have to vacuum and that takes me for freaking ever because people are nasty pigs who throw their food on the floor. And underneath the tables.

Luckily, I didn't have to vacuum tonight. Chuck did. Chuck is training to be the general manager at the Noodles that is about to open in Muncie. He is just getting his training at our particular Noodles location. But it still took me the usual amount of time to mop and Saran wrap the garnishings, and roll silverware. Thus getting me out of there at 10:45 or so.

I mean, I'm somewhat happy that I'm getting in a lot of hours this week. Fat paychecks are always nice. Buuuuuutttt at the same time, I don't like to close all the time. I like it when I get off at 8pm sometimes because then I can relax for the evening. And then I can wake up the next day and be happy again. But, sometimes when I close and then have to close again the next night, I'm not quite as motivated the second time. And then things get done even slower than usual. Bah. Humbug.

I'm done rambling now.
