Last night I caught my leg on the baby gate as I climbed over it. My left foot started to slip on the wooden floor (socks, they are slippery) and kept sliding and sliding and sliding while my other leg was still caught on the gate. I heard a CLICK coming from the vicinity of my left ankle. Next thing I know I was on the floor, sort of sitting on top of the baby gate with my legs sprawled out in two different directions and trying to hold onto the 9-month old puppy who wanted to a) investigate and b) escape into the rest of the house and pester the cats.
I managed to right myself eventually and contain things. Tried to move my ankle. It clicked again, but never a second time. I thought, "Oh, hey, I can move it. Means I didn't break my ankle. Probably a sprain." Nako told me to elevate it and ice it, and I did. I thought everything would be fine.
This morning it was worse, so I called the doctor. Long story short: I fractured my fibula just above the outside of my left ankle (that's the small bone in the lower leg). It's long and diagonal. I thought I'd pulled a tendon or something because of where I was feeling pain.
Argh. Crutches. Probably fall trying to use them. I need a cool story to tell instead of the klutzy tripped over a gate one.
ow,
broken bone,
