After it scans for spyware, you have to make sure that it deletes all of the spyware. If I remember correctly, there's a button that says "Quarantine" or something. Or maybe that's another program. Also, if you use Mozilla when you surf the net, it blocks a lot of spyware.

Ad-aware works great, but unless you have the paid version you have to manually run it. After logging off is a good time, but if you notice a sudden slowdown while you're online, you can still run it. The default settings are fine, so you just run the scan, select what it finds and delete. Make sure to also load the updates regularly. There is a new release you can download at -

Grant's right; Ad-Aware is a wonderful program. Just run a search for it on google and you'll find a link to d/l it.

However, the most malicious spyware program I've ever come across is called "Home Search Assistant". Does this sound at all familiar? If so, this link below will help you out.

Good luck with getting rid of the spyware... the process can be a real bitch.

In addition to adaware, since you have that. Download Microsoft Service Pack 2 for windows off of the microsoft website. This puts anti-ad stuff into windows and internet explorer, in addition to a firewall. I think it works very well.
