Title: Sins of the Father
Rating: R (language)
Disclaimer: I do not own the Las Vegas characters, but I do own Kasen Grey and Nathan Walker.
Pairings: Delinda/Danny, Ed/Jillian, Mary/Nathan (in future), Sam/Kasen (in future)
Summary: What if Mary’s father never came back out of the bar the second time. What if he got stopped by a certain detective who just wants to protect and serve? Neither Ed nor Danny had to draw weapons. Mary doesn’t have to live with the guilt of having shot her father, but now Officer Nathan Walker of the Las Vegas Police Department has to deal with him now.

What about Sam? What happened to her? Does Vince take her away from her home locked in a trunk like an animal? Does she ever get saved? Kasen Grey knows. The new security detail hired on to protect Vince Peterson. He doesn’t take crap though and he isn’t good at following orders.

What about Delinda? Is she dead or alive from the explosion? If she’s alive what about the baby? Is it dead too? And the casino….was the assault on the casino halted? Or is everyone still in big trouble.

Las Vegas, Nevada; Bar

The old man looked harmless from where he was sitting. He didn’t even seem like a threat to society. So why was Nathan here watching him? He was supposed to be behind a nice comfortable desk tonight. Apparently the captain had other plans. There was some sort of problem. A man released from custody earlier on was out and on the streets. The captain wanted Nathan to look into it. Check up on the guy and make sure he was abiding to the laws like a good little citizen. So here Nathan was in some junk dive bar watching the old man kick back shots like they were water. He had to drink a bit to blend in, but never enough to put him over the limit. Always was he able to see clearly afterwards. “Fucking ridiculous…” Nathan muttered under his breath. He hadn’t even noticed he was talking too loud when he heard a voice come from the stool next to him that belonged to the old drunk.

“You saying something about me boy?” Nathan was young, but not that young. Especially not to have this old pervert calling him boy. Nathan rubbed his hand over one side of his face and sighed.

“Nothing pops I was just muttering to myself.” He totally had under estimated this mans temper. By the time he finished speaking and had said pops the guy spun around in his seat and took Nathan down to the ground.

Now Nathan was a trained police officer. He knew how to handle himself, but could he risk blowing that he was a cop because this drunk wanted a fight? Yeah he could. The mans hands held him down by his throat. He worked his arms free from being pinned to the ground by the mans knees. He wrapped a hand around each one of the guys wrists. He held tight squeezing the life out of them. He heard the old mans bones bend and he pulled the guys hands free and pushed them back farther. He came up his upper body going at full speed hitting this old man straight in the face. A head butt could be a good tool when called upon. The man reeled back holding his nose. Frank Connell wasn’t such a big bad tough guy after all. He got to his feet glaring down at Nathan.

“You son of a bitch! What the hell is wrong with you?” Nathan got to his feet shakily trying to identify the mans next move. He was angry. If he was anything like the captain said then chances were he’d go home and this anger would be taken out on his family.

“Not a damn thing. Frank Connell right? Can we talk maybe?” The older man looked at him a little baffled at the fact that the man knew his name. He turned and went for the door. He disappeared out it before Nathan could stop him. The bartender called out that he never paid. Nathan’s eyes glanced to where Frank had been sitting. There sitting open was his wallet. He acted fast. He sidestepped and picked it up. Frank came back into the bar and looked directly at Nathan.

“Hand it over kid. I ain’t go time to mess with you. I got a family I gotta get home too.” Nathan just smirked and stepped back holding it up. He knew exactly what this type of guy was like. He hated this type of guy. He had lived with this type of guy. His father. Only he was more prone to beating his kids into submission instead of using other tactics like this sick little man did.

“No. Because then you’ll take your wallet and leave. Well guess what I got one too.” He said digging into the leather jacket. He pulled it out and flipped it up revealing the badge. “Las Vegas Police Department, mother fucker.” He hissed out. The old man halted where he was. He stared directly at Nathan. He was deciding on a course of action Nathan could see it in his eyes. “You run and I’ll spear tackle your ass to the ground then I’ll ram your head into the ground. Or you can just calm down and talk to me. Hard way or the easy way?” He asked. Frank’s eyes went to the front door and then just like that he was off like a streak of lightening. Nathan went off after him dropping Frank’s wallet in the process. His badge and stuff went back into his coat as he tore out of the bar at Frank. In the distance he saw a figure of what looked like a woman, but his eyes tore away from her as he heard a loud explosion. No time to think as he saw Frank Connell tearing across the parking lot.

He went off dodging in and out of parked cars trying to locate the man. He was doing this on purpose. He could tell. Lead him through a maze only to find out his car had been in the front all along. He was tearing through an open parking space when a horn blasted a car coming out of nowhere. He dodged to the side rolling along the front bumper getting around to the passengers side finally. The car went on and Nathan knew he was in trouble. Frank had done something wrong Nathan could tell. Why else would the usually smug bastard be running from Nathan? “Connell! You know I don’t stop till you do.” He could hear some shoes moving along the gravel. What was that? Was Frank getting balls and coming at him? He’d typically be moving away the dumb bastard. That’s when he got the shock of a lifetime. A man jumped from between the cars and punched Nathan right in the side of the face. He fell back against a Mercedes setting the alarm off. Jerking off just as quick he held his face in wild shock looking at the man.

It took a minute for it to sink into Danny’s head that he had just punched some random guy in the parking lot. He had been almost sure it was Mary’s father. He reached out to help steady the guy. “I’m sorry, man. I was just acting on impulse.” Nathan rubbed his jaw line nodding.

“It happens. Now you seen a older guy running around out here? About this high…” He said holding up his hand. That’s when he heard the sounds of gravel being crunched under boots. Working boots not the nice fancy shoes this man wore. He should have noticed the subtle difference. “Don’t move!” He shouted pushing past Danny and running at full speed. He dodged in between a Lexus and a Toyota. There he was. He ran after him. Finally catching up he did as promised. He spear tackled Frank to the gravel and dug out his badge again. “Las Vegas Police Department your under arrest.” He growled out taking Frank by the hair and slamming the back of his head down into the gravel to give him one so he knew who was boss.

He read the slightly conscious Frank Connell his rights as he hauled him up and put him face first into the back door of a SUV. He pulled out the handcuffs he had on him and slapped them on the old man. “Wanna know the first wrong move you made? Assaulting an on duty police officer. So what’d ya do wrong, Frank? Why’d ya run? You could have just came and talked to me. I wouldn’t have even known ya dumb shit.” Frank winced and let Nathan lead him to his own vehicle. Nathan was actually pretty happy he didn’t take his motorcycle like he planned. Instead he borrowed a pickup truck from a friend. He shoved Frank into the passenger side and locked it finally shutting the door. He was heading around to the drivers side when he glanced back. He saw that same woman he noticed before only this time she had that guy with her. The one who had decked him in the parking lot. His arm was around her and he was just looking up and over at Nathan. He heard a engine rumble to life and as he looked in the cars direction it was speeding off. He turned and climbed into the cab of the truck to sit next to Frank. Digging out the keys he started up the truck pulling out of there. “You gonna tell me or make me play twenty beat downs and hit you every time you don’t tell me something I wanna know.” He asked side glancing at the man.

Frank simply turned to look at Nathan and smiled a toothy grin. “Ain’t nothing wrong here, officer.” He said turning to look straight on. Nathan just smirked and nodded.

“You are one lying son of a bitch, but I can’t prove it so we’ll just go with what we have.” He dug into the little opening under the seats finding his radio. Flipping it on he drove with one hand. “It’s Walker I got a suspect in custody. I’m gonna need to send a squad car to Mr. Frank Connell’s residence. The address and supporting documents are on file. Do me a favor and check up on them. I’ll be into the station in ten.” The radio turned to static and then a voice came in to follow. It cleared it with Nathan and he tossed the radio between the two. “Las Vegas…” He said smiling. “The only damn place that arrest‘s your kind then turns around and tosses them onto the street to get fresh meat..” He said ironically. His head went to shaking as he thought if over.

The minutes passed by in silence as Frank watched out the window. Nathan swung into the station and took Frank from the car with little protest. The minute they went into the precinct though Frank was a howling about injustice and such. There was none. There wasn’t even a case to prove it. “He’s just being a bit of a baby.” He said taking Frank into a questioning room. He knew the captain would be in such a tizzy when he found out about all this. Nathan locked the questioning room door and turned to the cuffed Frank. “You know what they do to child molesters in prison, Mr. Connell? They rape you. They pay your sorry sick demented ass back!” He said crossing the ground and taking Frank by the throat. Forcing him backwards into the steel table he held him there. Frank squirmed in his grasp as he fought to breath.

“I….” Frank was struggling to speak, but getting nowhere. Loud footsteps echoed in the hallways as Nathan threatened to choke the life out of him. The footsteps got closer and suddenly another pair joined in. Voices outside the door flooded into the room. A loud roaring one commanding Nathan to open the door. Nathan didn’t even ease up or bat an eyelash. The door was kicked open and a man stepped in accompanied by his favorite daughter Mary. The man grabbed Nathan in a lock and pulled him back.

“Ease up, Walker! Calm down! He’s still in handcuffs.” He whispered finally into Nathan’s ear. Nathan was breathing heavy his face a shade of bright red just like Frank’s, but for different reasons. For one the red in Nathan’s was from anger, fear and sadness. All mixed into one. But the one thing Frank saw the most and it scared him was the anger. The overwhelming feeling to kill him. He had seen a bit of that in Danny, but something kept Danny grounded. The prospect of a family and of a life. This man seemed like he had nothing to lose. “He ain’t done nothing yet.” He said.

Nathan nodded and the man let him go. It was the captain. Captain Brock Rosenbaum. Nathan moved away from Brock fixing his wrinkled t-shirt. His eyes drifted to the other form. “Who the hell is she?” He asked his voice getting gruff. He wasn’t in the mood for random visitors.

“The girl is his daughter. Meet Mary Connell.” Nathan looked at Brock confused. He wasn’t catching on to this part.

“I thought the Connell girls were younger. The sick fuck does…” He was cut off by Brock grabbing his arm.

“I said that’s enough, Walker. He has another daughter. Another woman was her mother.” He answered looking to Mary who was watching Nathan like he was the second coming.

“You mean another woman ‘sides her mother wanted to breed with this little fucking…” Again he was cut off. This time for good.

“Quiet, Walker! Outside of the room! Now! Stay out there till I’m done questioning him.” Nathan looked at Frank and lurched forward, but he didn’t get close enough. Frank flinched though and that made him smile. Nathan turned around and left the room. The door clicked shut behind him and he shut his eyes. Why couldn’t he just turn off the emotions? Stupid. Stupid. This was so fucking stupid. He put his hands to his eyes and let his hands run through his hair. He heard the door open behind him and he spun around.

There stood Mary Connell.

Nathan’s women escapades didn’t last long and ended in extreme heartbreak and torture. But right now he was willing to take that leap for this angel. She had survived so much. Just like him that he didn’t even know where to begin. Instead he stood there dropping his hands to his sides. His hair was a sweaty mess and he looked broken down. “I’m sorry they made you come down to the station.” He replied. She just looked onward at him.

“I was at the bar already. Danny and I both. We saw you arrest him and I came down here on my own. Danny had to get back to the casino there was a incident. I went to your captain looking for you. It was Danny’s idea for me to find him. You hadn’t reported in with the apprehension of my father and your captain freaked out then he ran down here.” She was explaining her reasoning now? She didn’t have to do that. He completely understood. He would have done the same damn thing.

“It’s ok. I’m glad he showed up. I almost killed your father back in there.” He said offering her a sort of weak smile.

“Well your not the only one.” She replied trying to sound cheery, but she just sounded stuffy and upset.

“I guess so. Your father managed to get onto a lot of guys lists’. He’s at the top of mine along with my own dad.” He stopped talking letting the silence overtake them.

“You ever need to talk about what all is going down with him you know I’m here. Nathan Walker. You come find me and I’ll try to help.” He answered backing up to turn away.

“Thank you.” She said. She sounded so weak and vulnerable. The woman he saw standing before him was a shadow of her former self and he could tell. No one could live this way and survive as long as she had. Something must have changed. Something had to have changed. Nathan gave her a nod and turned away. He went down the hallway his black leather boots slapping against the tile floors of the hallways. It echoed along deafening Nathan as he rounded the corner disappearing from Mary’s site.

Private Airport In New York

Kasen Grey stood in the airport bathroom adjusting his tie. He straightened it some and dropped his hands to his sides. He looked like a monkey in this suit. He pushed chocolate brown locks from his face and reached down waving his hand under the automatic sink. It came to life water gushing down over his hands. He lifted his moist hands to his hair and used the water on them to smooth some of his hair back. He should have used moose this morning. He was going to make a terrible first impression on his new boss. “Fuck it.” He muttered turning and leaving the bathroom.

Kasen took the escalator down to the glass doors that lead out onto the airstrip. The planes were rolling in. Make that one plane. His boss’ plane. He pulled his coat open to check his sidearm. It was given to him upon getting this job. He never really liked guns much. He did better with physical violence. As the plane rolled to a stop about a hundred feet from him he could tell this was going to be a bad day. The door open and the steps came down. In seconds he would be face to face with his new boss. Security detail could be a real bitch, but he was learning to slowly deal with it. He checked his watch and waited as a figure finally appeared in the doorway. Two guys followed behind him lugging what looked to be a trunk. Kasen was curious as to why a rich and prestigious man as himself would carry such a eyesore of a trunk. He fiddled with his coat till finally Vince Peterson himself stood before him. He checked Kasen over and gave him a wide smile suddenly. He ruffled Kasen’s hair and motioned behind him to the trunk.

“Help out will ya, bud.” Kasen waited till the guys back was turned. He looked to one of the guys lugging the trunk and mouthed, ‘bud?’. The guy just shrugged and held up his end for Kasen. As soon as his hand grabbed one end he felt like the trunk was moving. It was weird. As they lugged the stuff to the SUV he couldn’t shake the feeling that the trunk was moving. As he put it into the back of the SUV he could have sworn he heard someone groan, but it was muffled. He stepped back staring at the thing. He shut the back hatch and went around to the drivers side. Kasen got into the drivers seat and was soon joined in the passenger seat by another more experienced security man Peterson had. He glanced back in the backseat where Peterson sat reading the newspaper. “Go slow, kid. I wanna be able to read and not get car sick.” He informed Kasen.

“Yes sir, Mr. Peterson.” As he started the SUV up he couldn’t seem to shake the feeling about the trunk. Maybe he’d talk to someone about it later on, but what if he was right. Kasen had always been impulsive in his actions. He was pulling out of the airport finally when he spoke up. “So whatcha got in that trunk?” He joked. “A dead body or something?” He laughed softly, but he didn’t hear any laughs other than his own. Finally after he stopped Vince smiled and just shook his head.

“I assure you it’s no dead body, son. Just watch the road. I don’t pay you to make conversation.” That made Kasen nervous. He pulled on the collar of his shirt. He wanted to loosen his tie, but he knew that his supervisor would be on his ass the moment he noticed. He dropped his hand to the wheel and kept driving. It wouldn’t be a while till they got into the city so he had a while to get the answer from Vince. He just wanted to know. Finally he got up enough nerve again.

“I didn’t mean to sound rude or anything before, Mr. Peterson. I just was curious is all. I only asked cause I could have sworn the trunk was moving. When I put it into the back I heard a groan.” As he finished talking he heard a thump from the back where he put the trunk. It was as if someone was listening and trying to get his attention.

Vince kept his eyes on his paper as Kasen spoke. “Where do you get these guys, Tommy?” He asked the elder man in the seat next to Kasen. “Why don’t you just turn the radio on and be quiet huh?” Kasen didn’t like where this conversation was going. He didn’t mean to pry he was just curious.

He opened his mouth to speak when he heard another thump. “Alright this is getting ridiculous. I know you guys heard that.” He turned going for the side of the road and hitting his brakes. He went for his seatbelt, but as he was about to unclick it he heard another click. The cocking of a gun. He turned slowly to find that the security detail next to him had his gun trained on Kasen. Vince had put his paper down and was leaning forward.

“You’re new here so I’m gonna cut you some slack ok? Me and you do not talk. I do not pay you to think or listen to strange sounds in my car got it? How about you just fucking drive and shut your god damn mouth alright?” He pushed Kasen’s head forward into the steering wheel. Kasen groaned and sat there trying to pull it together. The gun was still on him which made him nervous.

“You do got a body in there don’t you?” He questioned his eyes on the wheel. He didn’t dare look up. He wanted to keep this discrete. He didn’t want to have to look into these guys eyes if they decided to pull that trigger.

Vince laughed softly and shook his head. “I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to do this so early into my arrival home. Tommy deal with him.” He motioned and leaned back in his eat picking up the paper.

“Out.” Tommy said.

Kasen reached for the door and opened it. He unclicked his seatbelt and climbed out of the SUV. He held his hands in the air. His suit jacket flapped in the breeze. His tie whipped around in front of him. His hair was pushing back by the wind. Tommy came around back and motioned Kasen to follow him. Kasen walked out in front of Tommy till they stood in front of the back of the car. He put his hands to the back of his head. He shut his eyes saying a silent prayer for what was about to happen next. “You don’t have to do this, Tommy. I’ll shut my mouth this time I promise. People are gonna why I went missing. I have friends, man.” Tommy laughed and pressed the gun into Kasen’s hands which covered the back of his head.

The trunk made another loud thump. Tommy glanced back and Kasen took that was a chance to move. He jerked to the side and took off in a low hunched run. Tommy turned firing off into the woods. He hit nothing. Kasen ran around the car till he was in the front. He removed his weapon from the holster and pressed his back against the front grill. He could hear Vince yelling from inside the car to find Kasen. Tommy was coming from the left from the sound of it. He was standing right along the side of the front of the car his back to the crouching Kasen. Kasen tried to cock his gun quietly and he fired. He hit Tommy in the leg as he spun around yelling in pain. Kasen came up smacking Tommy in the face with the butt of his gun. He went down on the pavement out cold. He went around to the back doors and threw it open pointing his gun at Vince. “Get the fuck out.” He growled.

Vince looked upset as he lifted his hands getting out of the car. He glared at Kasen. “You’re making a big mistake, kid. I’m Vince Peterson I can find you and kill you.” He stepped back across the road away from Kasen and his firearm.

“Sounds like fun. I always liked a good hunt. Your one sick fuck, Peterson. Hope you and Tommy boy don’t have too hard of a time getting to the city.” He went to the drivers doors and climbed in quickly. Hitting the lock button he took the vehicle from park and into drive. Hitting the gas the SUV sped off.

Kasen’s heart was beating a mile a minute. He couldn’t feel his fingertips. He was sure he was going to get a bullet in the back of his head, but it never happened. Just silence as the SUV hauled ass to the city. He could hear the trunk in the back rattling. Whatever was in there wanted out. Part of him thought maybe it was an animal or guy of some sort. Who knew. He loosened his tie finally able to remove it. He tossed it on the passenger seat and undid the top two buttons of his shirt. He felt sick. He had never shot a man up close before. Back in the army he had been a sniper not an up-close and personal guy. It was another ten minutes before he couldn’t hold it in any longer. He pulled off to the side of the road and jumped out of the SUV. He hunched over vomiting all over the asphalt. He held his stomach as he stood in silence wiping his mouth with the sleeve of his suit jacket. Finally he couldn’t take it anymore. He removed the jacket and threw it on the ground screaming. He had just shot a man in the leg. An employer. He was so not going to get another job in this town. He went over to the back hatch of the SUV. He was breathing heavy and he looked a mess. He jerked it open and found himself staring at the trunk. He unlocked the stupid thing and finally was able to look inside. What he found was beyond him. A girl. A girl bound in duct tape lying on her side.

“Fuck me.” He muttered. He gulped and just like that he sprung into action. He reached into his pocket and removed his pocket knife. He reached into the trunk and cut the duct tape binding her wrists. Then he went to the tape binding her ankles. He put the knife in his pocket and by that time the girl was sitting up removing the tape over her mouth. Silently Kasen helped her out of the trunk and like that she fell into his arms out cold. There was only one place this girl could have come from. The same place Vince had just arrived from. Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kasen scooped her up into his arms and carried her to the backseat. He put her along the backseat and leaned over her. He patted her face gently. “Hey. Hey you. Wake up. You can’t sleep. You’re head is bleeding. You could have a concussion. Wake up.” Finally her eyes opened gently and she looked up at him. “Come on just sit up and stay with me. You think you can climb in the passengers seat on your own?” She gave Kasen a silent nod and he moved back out of the car going around to the drivers side. He got in and started the SUV up once again. Pretty soon she joined him in the passengers seat. She leaned against the door and looked over at Kasen.

“What happened to Vince?” She asked. She sounded hoarse and a little tired.

“He’s back on the side of the road along with his security detail Tommy.” He motioned to his holstered weapon and nodded. She looked like she understood, but she also appeared to be in another world. He just smiled and shook his head. “So you came from Las Vegas right?” She gave Kasen a nod. “I think we’re gonna have to leave right away. Vince has his cell on him and another car will be by shortly to pick him up. He’ll be on our asses in seconds. You know any way to get back?” He asked her. She thought it over for a while.

“Ed. Ed Deline. Where I work we have a jet. We can take that. We probably have to wait for it. I can call in. You have a cell phone?” She asked looking at him.

“Yeah.” He lifted his butt up and dug into his pants pocket. Finding his cell he slipped it out and tossed it to her. She got to dialing a number and he drove silently. She made the plans. It took her a while to get a hold of anybody. Finally it sounded like she contacted someone named Mike. Then just like that she was talking to the man she mentioned earlier. She assured the man she was ok and safe now. Made Kasen smile to know that he actually made someone feel safe. She snapped the phone shut and gave Kasen directions to the airstrip they needed to be at. They wouldn’t be taking the casino jet, but Ed arranged for another private jet to take them both to Las Vegas. Both? “You know I don’t have to go too.” He explained.

She handed him the phone and sighed. “He’ll find you and kill you. Now I’m not fond of people at the moment, but I’m not exactly a murderer.” She explained touching her head. She hissed and cursed under her breath. She flipped down the mirror and tried to touch it once again. Another curse and she kicked the dashboard.

“I don’t think that will help much. I think you might break the car too.” She looked at Kasen glaring.

“Look here jackass I don’t need any of your crap. I thank you for helping me and everything, but I can take care of myself now. I’m bleeding from the head so why don’t you just shut the hell up and drive k?” She looked back up into the mirror.

Kasen chuckled and shook his head. “One your not bleeding anymore. It dried a long time ago. That’s just gunk that gathered there in your hair. And I’m not a jackass.” He explained. “Let’s start with something easy ok? What’s your name? Mines Kasen. Kasen Grey. Now your turn.”

“Great so now I have gunk in my hair. Wonderful. Sam.” She muttered still looking at herself in the mirror. “Sam Marquez. Now stop talking.” She instructed him. Kasen just shook his head with a smile. He drove in silence from then on. She wasn’t up for talking about what just happened, but she sure liked to critique everything he did. They pulled up to the private airstrip and he killed the engine. Climbing out of the car he stretched his arm. Sam was the first to go for the plane waiting on them. He followed behind her simply trying to comprehend how this girl was still standing. As he stepped into the jet he didn’t see Sam. He took a seat in a chair and fastened the seatbelt. He sat for a couple minutes by himself till the bathroom door in the back opened. Out came Sam wiping water from her face. She took a seat next to him and he noticed he didn’t have any blood in her hair anymore. Good look for her. The plan got to rolling finally and he felt his stomach turn. Planes. Not good. He should have suggested driving to Las Vegas, but that would take too long. Too much conversation.

Sam was awake the whole flight at Kasen’s instructions. He made sure she stayed awake because he didn’t want her falling into some sort of coma or something from her head wound. He figured her boss and friends would be pretty pissed if he allowed her to do that. The plane ride was filled with bickering and extreme silence at some points. At times he found himself arguing with Sam over the arm rest whether or not he was hogging it. She was totally the one having her arm all up on his business if you asked him. She liked to blame things on other people, but this was totally her doing. The arm rest thing that is. Not the other part. Kasen was pretty sure she didn’t say ’kidnap me now!’. No one would wish that upon themselves unless they had a head condition or something.

The plane touched down on the Vegas private airstrip finally. It looked like afternoon now. Midday maybe. Kasen unfastened his seatbelt and stood up in the cabin. Sam did the same, but she pushed past him out of the airplane. She practically ran across the airstrip to get into the limo. Kasen took his time. He had never been here. He got into the limo quietly and the door shut behind him. The limo headed off to the Montecito. It was like sitting in a freezer with a bunch of ice cubes. The cold shoulder Sam had been giving him was amazing. He had saved her life from becoming Vince Peterson’s sex slave or worse and all she wanted to do was glare at him.

The limo finally stopped and Sam nearly jumped from the limo screaming something at him. He couldn‘t quite make it out. . She took off into the casino. Kasen followed her, but he took the time to thank the limo driver. He was a bit nicer than Sam he had realized early on. The moment he stepped through the doors there was craziness. People yelling and screaming. He jumped out of the way as a gurney whizzed past him holding a elder gentlemen. He gulped and found himself becoming increasingly sick again. He tried to locate Sam in the mess, but all he found was more injured people. He stopped a man who looked like he was alright. “What happened?” He quickly asked.

“There was an explosion on one of the floors. A bomb someone set off. A marine died and a woman was seriously injured. A few people close to the room were hurt and or killed. I’m not too sure. I was down in the casino when it went off. It’s been like this for a while. Plus there was a shooting. Can you believe that? A hit on the Montecito. It was stopped, but there were some casualties. The whole place has been chaos city since all this.”

Kasen nodded as the guy ran off to go find out more information probably. He felt someone grab his arm and he was being pulled through a crowd. “What part of stay close do you not understand?” He soon found the voice belong to Sam.

“I’m sorry, but when you move at the speed of light it’s kind of hard to keep up. A bomb went off here.” He said.

“I know. We’re going to the security office. Come on. Keep up.” She let Kasen’s hand go and he followed behind her. This place was like a whirlwind of confusion. Everything seemed to be out of order. It didn’t feel like he was any safer here than he would have been in New York with Vince on his tail. He’d take that psycho any day of the week rather than explosions and dead people.

As they stepped into the security office he found himself faced with endless mounds of computers and screens. Sam was talking to a man in a wheelchair as he hung back against a wall. He glanced into a glass office and noticed a man sitting at a desk. The guy looked up seeing Sam and ran from the office out into the security room. “Sam!” He shouted. Sam tore herself away from Mitch and went over to him. He hugged her before she could stop him.

“Easy Mike. I was kidnapped doesn’t mean I still don’t like being hugged. Where’s Ed and Danny?” She asked.

“Hospital. They’re with Delinda and Jillian. Why?” He questioned.

“Because I need a room for my friend and I don’t know anywhere else to put him.” She answered.

“Staying here wouldn’t be his best bet. Ask someone if he can stay with them. Why don’t you ask Mary? Or if he doesn’t mind a couch he could stay with me. So this is the guy who saved you?” He asked Sam.

Sam just nodded and looked around. “Yeah yeah. Mike meet Kasen. Kasen this is Mike. You’ll meet his incredibly gay partner Danny later, but right now I have to find a place to put you so I can continue my business.” She responded.

“She’s a charmer don’t you think.” Kasen said to Mike. Mike just laughed and nodded.

“That’s our Sam. Always the cute one. He can stay in the office with me till your….” Before he could finish his sentence Sam was walking away. “You’re welcome!” He shouted at Sam. She half waved and disappeared leaving Kasen and Mike alone. “So…you like uno?” He asked leading Kasen into the office. “Oh you got a gun on ya. That’s cool…” He trailed off as the door to the office shut.
