Advent - Day One - The Mistletoe Petition - OZ - 1209 words - Rated Teen
I love Christmas music (something you all should have figured out based on this weekend's challenge). At home, I drive my parents crazy because as the soon as Halloween passes (and for at least one week in July), I start listening to it. It goes on until the music station that we listen to stops playing it.
There is one song that gets played year round. It has found its way onto my Road Trip and Exercise playlists. That song is "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber. I wasn't a Bieber fan but that song instantly captivated me and I started listening for it everywhere during the Christmas season. My ears perk up every time I hear the jingle of sleigh bells at the beginning of a song (and, believe me, there are a LOT of songs that begin with sleigh bells), but there is only one "Mistletoe".
"Mistletoe" has inspired a series of works in HBO's OZ fandom that started in 2020 with the hardtime100 flashfic prompt "Christmas Songs". (Full disclosure, I'm the mod- I knew what I was doing prompting that.) A sequel followed on Christmas a year later, and a third for a Christmas in July prompt this year. Each one can be read as a standalone and they are as fluffy as things can get in Oz.
I decided to write another part for the series this year as my Advent gift, so here it is in all its glory-
