All For The Game - Neil Josten/Andrew Minyard - What Could Have Been - 163 wordscmk418August 12 2024, 03:22:46 UTC
“I never thanked you,” Neil said, while they were sharing a cigarette on the roof.
“For what?” Andrew asked.
“For hitting me with that racket.”
Andrew smiled at the memory. “Little rabbit, ready to book out the nearest door.”
“I had good reason.”
“And look at you now. Stuck in one place, one of the faces of Exy, not thinking of running.”
Neil said nothing for a moment. Andrew had been with him more than once, when he'd woken up suddenly from a nightmare, bolting out of bed and looking for his binder before the realization set in that he was safe. He wondered if he'd ever have that feeling of being truly free from danger.
What he had now was enough. He had Andrew, he had Exy, he had the life he always wanted. If Andrew hadn't hit him with the racket, he'd either be on the run or dead.
He linked his fingers through Andrew's, content that they had this moment.
Soul Tangled in Memory (Stiles/Derek, 100 words)simplyn2deepAugust 12 2024, 04:17:46 UTC
Stiles sat on the porch, a worn book forgotten in his hands, its pages tinted with age. The door behind him creaked open, and Derek stepped out as the late afternoon sun cast a sky-blue hue over everything. Without a word, Derek sat beside Stiles, close enough that their shoulders brushed.
“My soul and your soul are forever tangled,” Stiles whispered, his voice barely above a breath, repeating the line from the book.
Derek smiled softly, eyes meeting Stiles'. "Like a song we keep replaying," he murmured, referencing Meet Me In the Memory.
Stiles nodded, smiled, and leaned closer. "Exactly."
