Title: An Average Day on Atlantis
Fandom: SGA
Characters: John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Ronon Dex, Evan Lorne, Teyla Emmagan and Elizabeth Weir
Summary: Exactly what it says on the tin.

Lt. Col. John Sheppard stood in the doorway of Dr. Elizabeth Weir's office unable to believe what he was hearing. He had dealt with more than his fair share of political stupidity during his time in the Air Force, but what Elizabeth just told him just took the cake.

"You gotta be kidding me," he said expressing his disbelief.

"I wish I was, John," Elizabeth retorted with a grimace. "But to keep our funding it's dog and pony show time."

John shook his head and wander down to the labs to spread the word. They didn't need Rodney or any of the other scientists insulting the visiting politicians.

"What do you mean I have to play nice?" Rodney grumbled really not interested in what John was telling him. "I always play nice."

"Of course you do," John immediately snarked at Rodney. The hell with diplomacy.

"I do," Rodney declared with his arms crossed over his chest which was puffed out in indignation.

"Look," John sighed. "Let's get through this visit and I'll see about giving Lorne some time off, so you two can have a mini-honeymoon."

"It's a deal," Rodney agreed sticking out his hand to shake on it.

John caught up with Lorne, Ronon and Teyla in the gym training. He told them the wonderful news.

Teyla and Ronon exchanged a look that spoke volumes. Since becoming part of Sheppard's team, they had become accustom to these unnecessary visits from Earth.

"I have always hated annual inspections, but when the politicians get involved they become absolute nightmares," Lorne said expressing his displeasure.

"I know," John tried to sympathize. "Let's just put a good face on and hurry them back to Earth."

"Alright," Lorne agreed. "I can manage to do that."

"Good," John murmured.

The politicians came and went without a hassle. The Stargate Program got to keep its funding for another year. And, Rodney and Lorne got their mini-honeymoon.
