Comment Fic Friday: Waitangi Day edition

Feb 06, 2015 19:58

Hi everyone, how's your week been? I have been having issues keeping up with everything, yet again, although I have managed to do some things I wasn't expecting to do (and they were useful), but writing has been getting away with me, and so has my reply to comments, so please forgive me for being slow to answer any of your comments here at the comm, and for being tardy in getting rewards completed for last weekend's challenge!

Anyway, it's time for comment fic!

So, today is New Zealand's national holiday, called Waitangi Day (pronounced why-tongue-ee). This is in commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi (Te Tiriti o Waitangi), which was signed between the Queen's representatives and the Maori chiefs of Aotearoa (NZ) in 1840. For more information on this, you can go here. We have a public holiday on this day, but we don't seem to celebrate it with the same kind of fanfare as - for instance - America's Independence Day. There is still a lot of controversy over what the Treaty meant and that, along with many other things, means that for most of us, it's just a day off that we enjoy being at home with family.

Anyway, in the spirit of treaties in general, today's comment fic prompt is:

deals or agreements

Go forth and create ficlets! Anything is allowed as long as it fits into a comment (or two) and is inspired by the prompt! Have fun! (and yes, I will get to those rewards this weekend, as well as aim to reply to comments!). ;-)
