"I'll make you banana pancakes, pretend like it's the weekend now..."

wow, Livejournal.

This is the first day i've been home. I managed to pry my sister away from the computer for a few hours, and of course i flock right to LJ. I went to my Email and i had 1000 unread messages. it's insane.

Tomorrow is the first of march. (jared's Birthday, incase anyone wanted to know)

but then, the day after is mein birthday. so no one who reads this has an excuse to forget it. Ha. in years past, i would not tell anyone it was coming up, and see how many people remembered on the day. It usually didn't turn out very well for my self-esteem. lol. But now, i think the word is going to get out very well. I have a lovely and caring girlfriend, who might be more excited for my birthday than I am. Of course to me, im just getting a year older, which really didnt happen overnight, it actually took about 365 days, kind of a long drawn out process. Its a little odd how much we put into the anniversary of our birth. Dont get me wrong, I love cake, and the presents are usually fun too. It's still a little odd. I guess when it comes down to it, socially it matters how old you are. 16 = driving age, 18 = adult, 21 = drinking age, 65 = senior discount. of course, im turing 17, not a big deal. but that's not going to stop me from getting a cake and dressing up nice.

today i sat in my car, and it started raining, then it progressed into hailing, and i was hailing really hard, and then it calmed back down to a light rain and then settled back into overcast. I watched it and listened to it from the very first gentle rain drops, to it's final strikes. And it fascinated me how nature has it's own dynamics that are so often immitated in musical scores. starts light and slowly crescendos to a peak, i think i even heard some thunder during this dynamic peak, then it decrescendoed back into nothingness. it was very inspirational and wonderful.

then i had this great idea for this operetta that i want to write for my senior project. it's pretty funny, there's alot of music jokes in it. all the characters are pieces in a symphony. and the strings are the protaginists and the brass are the antogonists. and the conductor is the ruler of them all. and the woodwinds are the mischief makers who stir up the trouble in the rest of the orchestra. Im excited about it.
