DC Drabbles

Jun 14, 2007 15:03

I was chatting with Pix last night on AIM (omgaddmee!!11eleventy) and I ended up writing a bunch of drabbles for her prompts. And I still can't get over writer's block, so this will probably continue until that happens. Argh.

Title: Movie Night
Characters: Tim/Kon
Prompt: Anime

"Why are we watching this in Japanese?"

Kon stuffed another handful of popcorn he'd managed to snatch away from Tim into his mouth.

It was the cheap stuff that tasted more like salty grease and cardboard than anything else, but Tim's head was on his chest and Kon wasn't moving for anything.

He felt Tim frown, and his elbow dug into Kon's thigh in a too-specific-to-be-unintentional way. "The dubbing sucks. Plus," he smirked, "You might learn something."

"I already know what konichiwa means, dude."

Tim's elbow dug harder. Kon stole more popcorn in retaliation.

He wasn't sure, but his bet was that the two characters on-screen were either about to make out, or going to fight giant robots.

Next time *he* was picking the movie.

Title: Secret Origins: Ace the Bathound
Characters: Bruce, Jay
Prompt: Pets

"Bruce?"

He waited a second, flipping into and out of a handstand while Bruce kept typing at the computers in the cave.

Jason *knew* he was supposed to be patient, but sometimes Bruce was quiet so long, and it was hard to tell if he was just being quiet, or if he was being the type of quiet Robin was supposed to fix.

He waited another second, and then turned another handstand, asking while he was still upside down and his hair was in his face, "Can I have a dog? Please?"

Bruce froze, and Jay tumbled onto his knees, staring at his back.

"Michelle brought her puppy to school, and it was so cute and little, and I thought it might be fun."

"Robin, I highly doubt our lifestyle would be conductive to pet-raising."

He pouted at the tone, but just for a second, before Bruce could turn and *see*. "I would take care of her."

Bruce really *did* turn at that, and Jason put the pout back on.

"Please?"

"Jason," Bruce sighed, "Jay --"

A ping came from the computer, and one of the screens turned red. Jay was on his feet in an instant, gloved hands clapped together and grinning as Bruce became Batman.

"We'll discuss this after patrol."

Title: In time for the show
Characters: Dick, Tim
Prompt: pre-Robin!Tim, and Tim/Dick

He wrapped his arms around the younger boy almost unconsciously, leaning close to his ear and smiling at the camera.

"All right, Tim. One, two, three."

It was all part of the game.

His dad would tell him that, and ruffle his hair twice before his mom rolled her eyes through her smiles and sometimes smacked him on the shoulder.

He would swing his feet and arms, and ask when the real show started.

Dick squeezed the kid a little tighter, and impulsively added, "Tonight my act's 'specially for you."

Maybe it was just to see the awe turn to happiness, and freeze on his face as his own mom picked him up into her arms.

Title: Helping Hand
Characters: Tim/Dick
Prompt: Red nailpolish

Tim feels the muscles in his foot spasm as Dick ghosts another fingernail over his sole.

His head falls back against the back of the couch, and he groans.

"I thought you said you would help," he states uneccessarily, and Dick chuckles.

"I am helping, little bro."

Tim glares at the ceiling. "Licking my toes isn't helping."

Dick grins, blinding and bright, and Tim can't look at it for long without smiling himself. He summons his willpower, and stares at Dick, keeping his expression as bland as possible and quirking an eyebrow.

It works. In a way. Dick stops tickling his foot and starts poking around his bag of polishes.

"Red or black?"

Tim ponders the question, closing his eyes and thinking of the persona. As the persona.

"Red."

Dick grins again, and shakes the bottle twice against his palm before setting to work.

Title: Uninvited
Characters: Jason, Tim
Prompt: School clothes

"Nice shirt. Bible study let you out early?"

Tim glares at the unvited guest sprawled over his couch, and resists walking over and tearing that stupid mask off his face hard enough that he's left with no eyebrows.

Jason grins.

"Some of us have lives."

"Emphasis on the *pural*, I'm guessing." Jason stretches like a cat, and rolls over enough so that he can look Tim full in the face.

Tim tucks his arms, wishing for his cape.

"At least you can make it work, Geek Wonder."

Title: Distraction
Characters: Tim/Kon
Prompt: Peaches

"Mm."

Tim freezes.

It isn't necessarily a bad thing when Kon feels the need to randomly (as far as he's been able to find) hug him, and bury his face into Tim's hair, but.

He's getting ready for a case, and Kon is one of few distractions that are actually legitimate in their distracting.

"You're hair smells like peaches." He can feel Kon's laughing grin against his neck, and the distinct lack of his feet on the floor behind him.

"Everything has the potential to be a tell," he recites, but Kon won't stop breathing on his ear.

"Why peaches?"

Tim rolls his eyes. "I don't pick the shampoo. Alfred does."

He sighs when that's enough to get Kon off of him, and back to Tim's bed where he belongs until the bad guy is caught and Tim can stop pretending the leather skirt was for his benefit.
