The aforementioned longer post from the laptop.
Work this week was hellish. We hosted our all-building holiday party, plus some department parties. Next week is the Ceridian holiday party. The whole thing just means a lot of long days. Plus the weather got nasty in the middle of last week and made for some really long commutes on top of the long, exhausting workdays. I went to bed early basically every night.
Yesterday I went out to an art show that my mom was at. Dayla and baby came along and we did some Christmas shopping. It was nice. After that my parents and Jon and I went to this awesome Italian restaurant for dinner. Overall an ok day but it went too fast.
This morning I got up early-ish and cleaned the kitchen like I said I needed to. Jon and I had breakfast and watched an episode of 'Castle' and we talked a little about Christmas stuff. Then we showered and went out to lunch and to the grocery store. After we got home he laid down for a nap and I put away groceries. I will probably go check on him in a little bit. If he naps past about 4:30 he won't want to go to bed at a reasonable time tonight.
I have some fish to bake and mashed potatoes to make. I might do steak and potatoes for dinner tonight but if I'm going to, I will need to get that steak thawed out sooner rather than later. I started wrapping Christmas gifts too but stopped because I couldn't find the scissors. I found them down here so now I don't have an excuse.
Next weekend I will be doing some Christmas baking. I am making granola, chocolate pecan thumbprints, cinnamon swirl bread, and pinwheel cookies with frosting and sprinkles.
Today is me and Jon's 5 year dating anniversary. I think that's neat even though it doesn't 'count' anymore.
Pictures!

Hyep.
Oh, books! Last weekend I finished 'The Book of Lost Tales 1" and made good headway into the second volume but didn't pick it up at all this week. I did get through the audiobook of Seth Andrews' 'Deconverted", which was the upside of the long snowy commutes. So that's 23 down for the year. I am working on 'The Book of Lost Tales 2" today but probably won't finish it this weekend. I'm trying to think of another audiobook I could hook up but I tend to zone out and not listen...Seth Andrews is one of my favorite podcasters so his reading was sort of an exception. After Lost Tales 2 I am going to read "The Prince" (Machiavelli) because I've had it for a long time and it's really short. That will put me at 25 down, 5 to go. I think I can hit 25 by the end of next weekend. But then 5 more books in two weeks is going to be a tall order. Maybe I can get a lot read in the days off after Christmas. That may have to be my plan because my weekdays are VERY full and tiring with work right at the moment. Even so, getting there.
