Title: Midnight Walks

Summary: It is midnight and it is a bonding time between a father and a son.
“Ok guys, I’m going home first,” said Siwon while saying goodbye to all his friends. It is another tiring day for Siwon as he needs to finish an interior design of a mansion for a famous politician in Seoul. He packs his stuffs and walks to the basement car park. He unlock his four wheel drive, Sorento and drives to next destination.
Children Day Care is his next destination and he stops. He walks into the centre and meets the babysitter.
“I’m sorry for picking up my son late midnight,” said Siwon but the babysitter understands him and just nod and smile. Siwon gently laid his 5 years old son at the backseat of the car and closed the door. After 30 minutes drive, he reaches to his apartment. After park his car, Siwon carries his son to his apartment.
He laid his son on his bed and later he takes a shower. After 15 minutes, he wears a light blue pajama and walks to the kitchen. He makes a warm glass of milk and seats on the couch while trying to watch any interesting midnight shows. After taking a sip of milk, he yawns.
“Appa,” said the boy while clutching his teddy bear. He stands next to his father.
“Wookie, what’s wrong?” asked Siwon gently and scoot his son and makes him seat on Siwon’s lap but later the kid hugshis father tightly and cries.
“I miss umma,” said Ryeowook while crying. Siwon sighed and it has been one year after his beloved wife’s death. Siwon tried to coax his son but the boy cried more.
“Now Wookie, umma does not want to see you cry, she is watching you now,” said Siwon with his calm voice but deep inside Siwon’s heart, he misses his late wife more. Ryeowook looks at his father and try to find the assurance from his father.
“You don’t believe me?” said Siwon while lifting his left eyebrow. Then Ryeowook nods.
“Let’s get you to bed,” the moment Siwon said that, Ryeowook hugs his father more tightly.
“What’s wrong?”
“Wookie had dream that appa will leave Wookie like umma leave Wookie,” the little boy cry more. Siwon patted his son’s back gently.
“Appa promise appa will never leave Wookie,” said Siwon.
“Promise?”
Siwon looks into his son’s eye and smiles, “Cross my heart,” then Ryeowook hugs him more and smiles widely.
“Thank you appa,”
Then Ryeowook shifted his body and sits comfortably on his father’s lap. They watch the boring channel together and Siwon caressed his son’s hair.
“Wookie, do you know what umma loves to do?” asked Siwon while walking together with his to his son’s bedroom. Ryeowook climbed the bed and Siwon helps him and tugged him.
“What appa?” asked Ryeowook while hugging his teddy bear.
“She loves midnight walk and when we take a rest, she always gaze into the star and smiles. She loves stars so much,” said Siwon.
“Really appa?” asked Ryeowook with a wide smile and Siwon nods.
“Tomorrow, it is our weekend, do you want to watch stars?” asked Siwon.
“Yes and can we do midnight walks like umma?”
Siwon chuckles when he hears his son’s request, “I am afraid we can’t or umma will scold us from above but we can go to planetarium and watch the stars,”
Ryeowook giggles in happiness, “ok appa,”
“Goodnight, Wookie,” Siwon patted his son’s head soflty.
“Good night appa,” Ryeowook yawned and sleeps peacefully. Siwon looks at his son’s face and sad smile is plaster on his face. He walks to his bedroom and lay down. Few minutes later, he falls asleep with his son next to him.
