[He walked over to offer a leaning-arm instead.] I'll just keep them off of you.
No. If they truly were the former keepers of this place it makes a certain sense that that problem is worked around in some way.
[He follows carefully, eyes shifting around to take in any potential followers. He does not mind a confrontation, but not with the Constable watching.
[When the mysterious pulled-to-the-edge sensation begins he braces himself against it and walks close to make sure it does not affect the other man adversely.]
