Wii...Effin...Owns...
I played Zelda last night. Its your standard Zelda so far. I haven't gotten into any combat yet, still doing the preliminary help out around the village and find a sword/shield stuffs. The controls are easy to get used to. The Wii Remote is very sensitive, and accurate, and works incredibly well. It didn't take me long at all to get acustomed to pointing at things on the screen and navigating menus with it.
After I had started to get a little tired, I decided to toss in Red Steel. I let
arkanaloth playtest that one, and he was visibly amazed. The point to shoot aspect of it seems to work very well. In addition, items will be surrounded by a faintly glowing outline to let you know that it is a weapon to pick up, or an object to interact with. Moving close to a table you see a hand icon appear, and swinging the nunchuck attachment upwards will cause your character to flip the table over to hide behind, or a similar motion will open doors.
I'm going to check out Red Steel for myself later today, as well as test the multiplayer. Overall I am floored by this system. Its small, it looks nice, and what we all thought was just to be a failed gimmick on nintendo's part has turned out to be everything but that.
If you get a chance in the future go get one. It sure as hell won't break the bank :)
