Oooh, this line really hit home for me. Needing to keep the relationship a secret at all costs must feel pretty terrifying and even lonely at times, even though there's two of them.

It makes me so sad that Gene considers Sam's embrace a prison rather than a comfort, but it rings very true to the sort of man he is, nonetheless.

“Gene.” Sam stretches out a hand, voice stronger. “C’mere.”
