The Woman and Daniel Radcliffe

Feb 16, 2012 23:58

SO, Rachel and Kayla and I went to see the Woman in Black on Sunday.  We were interested for a variety of reasons- Daniel Radcliffe’s first role since Harry P., what would hopefully be the first good horror movie I’d seen in theaters since, about, forever, British costumes ..

Well there were costumes and D. Radcliffe but it was not the first good horror movie I’d seen in theaters since, forever.  Although it was beautiful and the imagery was haunting it lacked the glue to hold the story together (dialogue, exposition, proper motive..), or a satisfying conclusion.  It’s another for the file of movies I’m angry about because it could have been so good with such little effort and yet they didn’t go there.  Or.. am I supposed to feel narratively constipated because it’s a ghost story and therefore the conclusion is that there can never be any conclusion?  If this is the case I hate you, Hollywood!

Signed, Ruth Halloran, age 25, still angry about inconsequential things.
