CLARINGTON -- Funeral services were held Friday for a 20-year-old Bowmanville man killed in a single-vehicle crash near Gooderham Monday night.
Andrew Bond was killed when the car he was driving went out of control, hitting the shoulder of the road then rolling several times on County Road 503, west of Gooderham in Minden Hills Township.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Haliburton Highlands OPP, there were five people in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including 15-year-old Hayley Cook of Newcastle, who was taken to the Hospital for Sick Children with serious injuries. James Harris, 20, of Bowmanville, Jessica Lantlop, 17, of Newcastle, and Calvin Piels, 20, of Fenelon Falls, were all taken to area hospitals and treated and released.
Haliburton Highlands OPP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
Counsellors were on hand at Clarington's Centre for Individual Studies, to help staff and students deal with the news of the death of Mr. Bond, who graduated from the Bowmanville facility last June, said Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board spokeswoman Judy Malfara.
