If I'm Not Married, Why Do I Have to Have a Mother-in-Law?

No really. Why? I don't want a mother-in-law. I couldn't imagine a worse mother-in-law if I were writing a cheap Stephen King rip-off. An ignorant, complaining woman who wants to gossip about and criticise others; who wants to feel righteous and put-upon. Who is this person? Is she really related to my significant other? Apparently she is. She couldn't be more unlike him. I won't even talk about how she treated her son when he was younger. Now that he's no longer confined to her house, she's afraid of being alone, and doesn't want to lose him, so she insinuates herself on our life together. She insists that I'm her "daughter" and she loves me. She doesn't even know me. If she knew what I thought of her, she'd probably hate me. I am disgusted by her, her attitudes and affectations, her incoherence and lies. Go away. Leave me alone. Damnit, I have my own family issues to deal with. I'm sorry for every bad thing I ever said about my lovely well-meaning-but-denial-ridden family and schitzotypal mother. I was sorry that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.
