Hello !
(This is a whole story ^^)
It's a long time since I wanted to make an 18th century gown, but first I never found the right fabric I was looking for, then I was never sure of what kind of gown to make for there are so many that I like. And finally, having no much time this last years I gave up.
After finishing my regency dress, the taste of 18th century came back to tickle me. Talking with Lisotchka, she convinced me to make a chemise-dress for it was so easy and fast (one afternoon and done !) and nice to see. I agreed and try to find THE chemise-dress I wanted to do. After watching paintings, guess what ? I realize that the gowns I really prefer were more "18th century-look-like"... (surprising, isn't it ?). I fell in love with Raeburn's portrait of Miss Eleanor Urquhart :
Of course it would be less fast and easy than a chemise-dress but I enjoyed the project so much... I get inspired by a pattern of a round gown but had to finally change it, trying to guess how could be the skirt, and the gown standing up, doing as best as I can not to ruin the gown. I've finally made it ! Even if I am not, for now, totally satisfied with it (still little things to change, and still questions torturing me "Have I done the right thing there or there ? etc.") I still like it for it's my first 18th century gown ;)
Pfffewwww, now I can breathe and have a rest ^^
