Somethings on bitter strings

So I am still just taking things one day at a time with her. We will see what becomes of it. Our work scheduals are different, which adds a bit of a challenge, she works nights, I days, so we do not have too many opportunities to see each other. I am enjoying this, the mixture of hope and fear, it is such a wonderful feeling truth be told...

I have not heard from Natalie in a VERY long time, I think that she may be drifting away. It breaks my heart, but I know that I must let her go, there is nothing I can do to keep her even if I tried. I know people get busy and what not, but something about the way our last few correspondences have told me that a distance is growing. I can only hope that she knows I love her like a sister, and will always be her freind...

I am reading Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintence, and the auther has just perposed that Quality does not exist to support subjects and objects but that Subjects and Objects exist to support Quality. I do not think that this statement is correct. I think that quality is something we are conditioned to see. Not something that we see naturally, we are taught what quality is, by our peers and our family, and the world view in general. Just look at the change in "Quality" television, in the 50's it was shows like Andy Griffit and My three sons, today it is Family Guy and CSI. There is a VERY large difference in the Quality of these shows, and it will be different again 50 years from now. Quality, or the concept of it, changes as we do. Yes there are some examples of "Timeless Quality" the great masters in art are one, but I wonder, if we were not taught from a young age that this is quality work, would we feel that it is? This should be in my journal...
